Lifes Like That

My oldest son is 17 and he has given me some problems over the years.  It started in elementary school and has continued on to high school.  His behavior has gotten better, but a lot of the things he does is still not acceptable to me.  One of the things he is doing right now is cutting school and not passing in assignments, so this had made him not able to graduate this year with his class.  So, when a friend of mine called me to inform me that her son, who’s behavior was a lot like my son’s has landed himself in jail and their was a big write up in the paper as to why, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to discuss with him the consequences of his behavior.  I got the paper and made him read the article.  As he knows this boy and has known him for several years it was definitely a wake up call for him.  I could almost see the look of horror on his face while he was reading this article.  Thinking, this could have been him.  So, although I feel greatly for my friend and what she’s going through, I am glad that this article was published and hopefully my son walks away from this and has learned a very important lesson.
