As a parent, I’ve got to tell you that raising kids is an extremely difficult job.  I have had a lot of problems with my oldest son over the years and even though he is eighteen now, let me tell you that it doesn’t get any easier.  All in all he is a good kid he just does a lot of stupid things that he gets caught doing.  This weekend, I caught him in a lie and called him on it.  He didn’t like that very much so yesterday he came in the house and informed us that he was moving out.  This is his decision and we did not ask him to leave, but he is eighteen now so there wasn’t a lot we could do about it.  Hopefully a little time spent in the real world will awaken him to the fact that life at our house wasn’t quite that bad.  He is more than welcome to come back home, but knows that by doing this, he will have to abide by our rules.  One of my rules is that I can absolutely not tolerate being lied to.  As I have two younger children that I am trying to raise properly, I cannot and will not have him breaking the rules.  Hopefully we can get this situation straightened out.  But until then we have to go on with life and hope that he will go on with his in a productive manner.

The past three days have been the warmest and sunniest days of the season.  I realize that summer is still a little ways away, but with this weather, I really believe it may have arrived early.  I am taking full advantage of this weather and doing a lot more things outside than insided these days.  On Friday I took the kids to the park for a couple of hours.  Yesterday I sat outside with them while they played for about four hours.  And today, we are planning to take the kids fishing.  So, you can see that I’m really taking advantage of this nice weather, but unfortunately I have to try to figure out a way to get my inside work done so that I don’t feel so guilty when I indulge in my outdoor pleasures.

I so enjoy Friday’s.  It’s the last day of the week that I get the house completely to myself all day and I usually get so much done on this day as I know over the weekend with the whole family home, I don’t get a whole lot accomplished.  This weekend we have a very busy weekend planned.  The renovations on the home will continue, we have two different properties to look at, Saturday night we are taking the kids to the drive-in theater and on Sunday we will be headed down to my husband’s parents for a BBQ.  So, once again our weekend is jam packed, but I love it.  It gives the kids something different to do and keeps them out of mischief.  But, come Monday morning I will be ready for all of them to go back to school and back to work.

This sounds like a repeat of yesterday doesn’t it?  Well it kind of is, but not quite.   Today after my young son got off the school bus he went up to the playground and started digging a hole again.  Once he made it big enough, he sat in it and started to bury himself again.  Once I discovered what he was doing, I yelled up to him to make sure he didn’t lose a sneaker again.  Well, he yelled back at me that I didn’t have to worry about that today as he already took off his sneakers and had set them beside him.  So, I guess he was really thinking today wasn’t he?  I would never have thought of that.  But, I guess that’s why I’m not a six year old little boy.  As long as he doesn’t take off any of his other clothes, I think we will be pretty safe.
