I really don’t know who is more excited about going camping this summer.  The kids or my husband.  For the past three days now he has been purchasing a lot of camping supplies.  As we had never gone camping before we didn’t have a whole lot of stuff to take with us on our last adventure.  So, most of the stuff we took was from out of our house.  I guess he means to rectify that within a span of a week.  We had decided to go out a couple of times to see how we liked it and if we liked it would then start purchasing some stuff.  Well, if his shopping spree is any indication about how he felt after our last trip, then I am going to assume that he loved it.

If anyone of you has teenage children, then you are going to know exactly what I’m talking about. The series that is just about coming to an end is the Harry Potter series. This series has been a smashing success. With the end of this series there will be seven books in total plus they had also made some movies. I have to wonder if the author of this series realized that once she wrote the first book that it would be a smashing success. I know the last book that came out, was sold out before it ever hit the stores and this final book is already anticipated to do the same.

There are not many books or series of books on the market that has taken the reading community such as this has. And with the final book set to hit the stores, you can imagine the supspense all Harry Potter fans are feeling. So, for that teenager in your life who just can’t get enough of Harry Potter, why not drop in and purchase your copy before they are all gone. My anniversary is coming up and I have trying to think of something special that my husband and I could do to make this an extra special day. So, I thought that maybe we could go away for the weekend just the two of us. As we really never had a honeymoon, I was thinking that this would be a perfect belated honeymoon. We have caught the camping bug.  And although last weekend didn’t turn out so great do to rain, we are going to attempt to do this again.  This weekend is a long weekend as it is Canada day so it’s a perfect reason to pack up our stuff and head out camping.  Because it’s a long weekend, we need to book a spot at one of the campgrounds allready.  The first two places I called were totaly booked for the entire weekend, but thankfully I found a site that wasn’t completely booked.  So, we are headed out this weekend and keeping our fingers crossed that it won’t rain again this weekend.

A very dear friend of mine is moving the end of the week and I have discovered that I’m going to miss her very much.  I will also miss my little “buddie” giving me lilacs.  So, joking around we always said that if she ever moved she would uproot her lilac tree and deliver it to me.  Well, of course that’s not possible (it’s a big tree and the new owners could get a little upset at her and I) so today she did the next best thing and gave me some pieces to transplant in front of my house.  As I don’t exactly have the “green thumb” I talked my husband in to transplanting it for me.  So, I now have a small lilac bush planted and hopefully it will grow (and not become enemies with the lawn mower).

Now every time I look out my living room window, I will be reminded of my friend and my little “buddie”.  It’s not quite the same as having them still living here, but it’s better than nothing.  For this I THANK her!

Now that I am unemployed, there are so many options out there for me too look into. One of these options that I have been looking at is possibly going back to school. One of the jobs that I held in the past was working at a special care home for seniors, so I am kind of thinking about taking a nursing course that primarily deals with the elderly. But, to accomplish this, I will need to upgrade my education. One of the couses I have been checking into looks quite promising, but unfortunately it will cost a lot of money. Money I don’t know if we can spare right now. To do this the right way I’ll need to purchase books, pay tuition fees and purchase some medical uniforms.

As you all know the family and I were headed out for our very first camping trip this past weekend.  I have to say that it wasn’t the most pleasant experience that I have had in life, but I think that was mainly due to the fact that it POURED all weekend.

First of all we weren’t able toleave Friday night as we had originally planned as my husband got home late from work.  So, we packed up everything and left first thing Saturday morning.  It was a little overcast but only calling for maybe some light showers.  So, we took the chance and off we go.  After we got all set up at the camping site, it started to rain.  The kids were able to play at the park for maybe an hour when it started to downpour.  This continued for the rest of the afternoon and all night.  So we were all stuck inside the trailer all day and night.  But we learned a valuable lesson, if it is calling for showers we won’t be headed out.

We are going to try again this weekend (it’s suppose to be sunny, fingers crossed) and we will see how it goes.  It actually can’t be any worse.  But, all in all the kids had  a good time so the camping trip was not a complete bust.

With summer in full bloom now, I have been outside quite a bit working on the yard. I have planted flowers, painted my deck and have transplanted two lilac bushes. So, the next thing I need to do is to purchase some yard markers for my yard. As the yard is finally starting to look the way I want it, I think this maybe the final purchase I need to make it complete. So, after I make this purchase then my yard will be one of the best looking ones on the block, and I know my family will enjoy thier outdoor space for years to come.
