Lifes Like That

My two youngest children are so confused.  All week long that have heard an ad on the radio of a company advertising their “Christmas in July” special.  The kids want to know why this company thinks it’s Christmas time when it’s only July.  I tried to explain to them that this was just a promotional gimmick, but I don’t think they completely understand this line of thinking.  You and I know that there is still five months before the big guy arrives, but with all the advertising on the radio the kids are having an extremely difficult time keeping this in mind.  They want to know why they are receiving presents if it is indeed Christmas in July.

So, to make them understand this more clearly, I have decided to let them write a note to Santa so he can answer all their questions.  They don’t seem to believe me but I bet they will believe him!

My latest hobby that I have just sarted to get into is the wine hobby. I’ve always enjoyed drinking a good bottle of wine, but now I’ve started to getting into purchasing different types of wines and trying out new tastes. My husband and my anniversary is coming up on Friday and the two younger kids are so excited. I have no idea why and I’m thinking that maybe they think they will get something out of this special occasion. Yesterday as I was cleaning my daughter’s room (she’s eight) I stumbled across a couple of cards that she had made for us. They were so cute with stickers on them and a poem in each one of them. You could just tell that a lot of thought had gone into these cards.

Of course I didn’t tell her that I found them and when she hands them to us on Friday I will act surprised at the thoughtful thing that she did. I don’t have to ACT proud, because I really am. I have a couple of great kids, and this is just another way that they have shown me just how great they are.

As most of you know one of my favorite hobbies in life is to do some reading.  This is usually how I relax after a long day with the kids.  I usually only read romance and historical romance books, but if a title on another type of book catches my eye, I will purchase it and attempt to read it.  One type of book that I have seemed to have obtained an interest in is “True Crime” books.  I really don’t know what the facination of these books are especially since I don’t know that parties involved and usually the crimes are pretty morbid.  But, with the amout of the these types of books being sold, I’m thinking that I’m not the only one who enjoys reading this type of book.

As long as there is crime happening in our country, there will always be the opportunity to purchase and read these types of reading material.

Yesterday just happened to be one of the hottest days of the season.  So, it was a nice surprise when my husband got home from work and asked me and the kids if we would like to go for a drive down the road.  We live in a mobile home and when it’s hot like that outside, inside is extremely brutal.  (we really have to get the tin siding off and regular siding put on)  So, as we all headed down the road in our air conditioned car, we were all delighted to see him pull into our favorite ice cream restaurant.  The kids each had  a sundae and my husband and I had an ice cream treat of our own.  On a hot day like we had, we all appreciated the coolness of the restaurant as well as the coolness of the ice cream.

The tempretaure is suppose to go even higher today.  Do you think I could talk him into going for the same car ride again tonight?

Now that our current home is almost completly renovated and ready to put on the market, my husband and I have been disucssing different options that we would like to have in our new home. A couple of things I would like to have is a huge backyard for the kids to play in, a dishwasher (tired of dishpan hands) and a wood stove. He hasn’t stated much of anything that he would like to see in our new home except that he would love to have a huge home theater system. Since I have a complete list of things I would like to have, accommodating his one wish I don’t think would be a hard thing to do. So when we finally start looking seriously for a home to purchase, hopefully we can make his one wish come true.

This year has been the first year that we tried out the camping lifestyle with the kids.  I have to say that it’s been a huge success and the kids are having the time of their lives.  It has been such a success that we have decided that at the end of the season we will probably trade in our current trailer for a bigger and new one.  The camper trailer that we have currently is great, but when we bought it, we bought it with the intention that if we enjoyed the camping experience our next move would be to purchase one bigger and better.  So, if the rest of the season goes as well as the first of the season has, then hopefully I will be posting that we purchased a new one.

If anyone has small children like I have then they know exactly what I’m talking about.  My two youngest refuse to sleep in.  It doesn’t matter what time they go to bed at night they are always constantly up between 6:00 am and 7:00 am.  Then if they had stayed up later the night before, they are royal bears by the time it bedtime again.  Since school has ended they have gone to bed every night around 9:00 pm, but they still get up very early in the morning.  This means that I have to get up very early in the morning every morning and I think that today it’s finally caught up with me.

I can’t wait until they finally become teenagers and start sleeping in in the mornings.  Maybe then I can get some sleep.  I can gauratee you this, it will be an early night for me tonight.

I surprised the kids today with a family feast from KFC.  I figured it was only right as they have surprised me over the last couple of days by being extremely good.  They have been so good in fact that I’m constantly looking around to find my real children.  LOL

Their not all that bad except they have a tendency to fight quite a bit (only being two years in age apart).  And this fighting usually leaves me with a huge headache by the end of the day.  So, I’m not quite sure what led to all this good behavior, but because they have been trying to be good and have been really good the past couple of days I figured that they deserved a little something special.  Hopefully next time they go to fight, they will remember this!
