They just don’t listen

If anyone of you guys has some small children at home, then I’m desperately seeking your advice.  I have two small children at home that just don’t  listen.  I have tried everything and nothing seems to work.  It’s almost like they don’t hear me.  I know they do, but they seriously act like they don’t.  All summer I’ve been going through this, but today I would have to say has been the very worst day possible.  They don’t really talk back to me when I tell them something, they just ignore what I say.  And I’m getting so fed up and frustrated with this.

So, please tell me your secrets and let me know what works for you and your kids and what doesn’t.

    I am no child whisperer, but I find I have to, each and every time, get them to look me in the eye when I speak. They are just like me and really zone out and tune everthing and EVERYONE out…unless I make them look at me.
