Lifes Like That

And….the sewing continues

And….the sewing continues

As you can tell, I am starting to get a little bored with my sewing projects.  So, I have done something about it.  A few days ago I purchased a jewelry making kit online and now am just waiting for my package to arrive.  Until it does, I have decided that I really need to get back to my quilting.  I figured I could get more done on the quilt and that way when my jewelry making kit comes in I won’t feel so guilty about not working on the quilt for a little while.  I really don’t know why I get so restless, as I do really enjoy sewing.  But, sometimes it really feels like a chore to me instead of a hobby.  So to avoid losing interest all together, I usually set it aside and try something different.  But, until my kit comes in the mail, I will get as much work done on the quilt as I possibly can.

Fixing up the cabinets

The cupboards in our kitchen are beautiful and this was one area that we didn’t touch when we were doing our home renovations. But, after looking at them, I’m thinking that I would like to have some new cabinet hardware to make them look all that much nicer. This is not something that we absolutely need to have done to make our home sell faster, but with all the other renovations that we have completed I have been thinking that maybe this is one thing that we should do so the look of the kitchen will match the rest of the house.

Busy weekend a head

Yesterday my husband came home from work with a lot of carpet.  We are going to put carpet down in all of the three smaller rooms.  So, we have a really busy weekend a head of us laying down carpet.  Because each and every room has furniture and stuff in it, the first thing we are going to need to do is pull out all the furniture that is in each room.  Then we will be able to lay the carpet down.  This is going to take us most of the weekend to accomplish this.  But, the good thing is that once it is all done not only is it going to make each room look nicer, but it will also warm up the floors as we won’t be walking on tiled floors any longer.  So, that’s my plans for the weekend.  Wish me luck!!

Growing problem

Watching the news and reading newspapers, I have come to the conclusion that there is a rising drug problem with younger people these days then there ever has been in the past. This scares me quite a bit as I have two younger children at home and I seriously wonder about their future. But, the good news in all this, is that there are also a growing amount of drug rehabilitation facilities opening up to accommodate this need. Unfortunately by the looks of things this problem is only going to get worse in the future, so there needs to be a lot of help available as soon as anyone finds themselves in this kind of predicament.

A day of reflection

A month ago today my husband’s mother passed away.  I can’t believe how fast the time goes.  Everyone in the family still misses her a great deal, but each person in their own little way is dealing with this quite well.  The kids have decided that Grammie is a tooth fairy an that is how they deal with it.  My husband and his father just get through it by going day by day.  But, it is getting easier and now with our first major holiday passing without her, I think everyone is going to be OK.  It is just hard to believe sometimes that it has been a month already.  So, today is a day of reflection for most of us, but…I think everyone will do fine.
