Yesterday my father-in-law stopped by and when my husband asked him what were he plans were for tonight, he sounded really down and lonely when he stated that he wouldn’t be doing anything. So after he left I told my husband that we should invite him for our New Year’s Eve supper. It’s not going to be much, just a small Chinese buffet meal. But I thought it would be nice if he wanted to join us and the children. So last night I called him and invited him. You wouldn’t believe how happy he sounded on the phone. So I was quite happy that I had thought of this. Hopefully the snow storm that we are experiencing right now will slow down so he can make the drive to our house to spend New Year’s eve with his grandchildren.

As you all know, tomorrow is New Year’s Eve. So today I have been doing a little reflecting on this year that is almost over. I have to say that it wasn’t a real good year and I am totally looking forward to ringing in the new year. This past year my oldest son moved out on his own and got himself into a little bit of trouble. Hopefully in 2008 he will be able to get this mess straightened out and become part of the family again. In September I lost two family members so this was a very difficult month for me. It is mainly for these two reasons why I am quite happy to see the year 2007 go.
So, here’s to hoping that 2008 turns out to be a much better year here at our house. And…hopefully 2008 turns out to be a very good year for you all as well!

For the past two days it has been snowing here non stop. Finally we woke up this morning to seeing the sun shining brightly with no white stuff floating down from the sky. I haven’t seen this much snow drop down in years and now we get the pleasure of plowing ourselves out. With the amount of snow that has fallen, this job is going to take quite a while. It makes you wish that you had a snow blower. But, for the past few years a snow blower hasn’t been needed. The last couple of years we haven’t had enough snow to even justify having a snow mobile. I have to say after the latest snowfall that having a snow mobile wouldn’t be a waste of money. Oh well, snow is better than the deadly cold that we normally get, so I am certainly not complaining.

Yesterday was my nephew’s wedding. And, in spite of the extra snow that wasn’t called for, it was a very beautiful wedding. My nephew looked so handsome in his tuxedo. He was probably dressed the best that I’ve ever seen him. Right down to his brand new cufflinks. He had a professional photographer taking pictures at the wedding, so everything will be captured on film. So the next time I see him in his normal state, I can always look back at the pictures to remember what he can look like when he wants to.
The bride was beautiful as well, but she always is so that wasn’t quite the shock as seeing him all decked out. Weddings are normally so beautiful and this one was no exception. And, if your reading this Jeremy, I do sincerely wish you and your bride all the best. What a way to bring in the New Year!!

Well the big day finally arrived and the kids were extremely happy with all the presents that the big guy left him. They started trying to get up at 1:15 am. Way….to early. But we managed to keep them in their beds until 6:30 am. So that was a good thing all in itself. When 6:30 arrived they were up for the day. They completely destroyed the living room by 7:00 am, but they sure had fun in the process. My youngest son was so…funny! Every time he would open a piece of clothing, he would throw it in his pile and then state “Oh good. Clothes. Just what I always wanted. Not!!”. My daughter was thrilled with everything she got. Yes, even the clothes.
Then we had our Christmas dinner at our home and I didn’t burn anything. So all in all it was an awesome day. But, let me tell you that I was very happy when bed time finally arrived on that day. That’s how you can tell I’m getting old. lol
Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Well it’s December 24 and you all know what that means! Yes, it’s finally Christmas eve! And, boy it’s not hard to tell that fact around my house today. The kids are so excited and are pretty much bouncing off the walls! Christmas eve has always been my favorite day of the Christmas season. I enjoy Christmas eve even more than Christmas day. This is the day when everything is finally done, the kids are all snuggled in their beds and I can just sit back and relax and get ready for the big day that awaits me. I’m sure that when I was younger Christmas day would have been my favorite part of Christmas, but now that I’m older I would have to say that it is definitely this day.
Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope this day and the days too follow will be everything you hoped they would be!!

Last week while I was out doing a little bit of Christmas shopping, I came up with a wonderful idea for my husband. He is extremely hard to buy for and every year I spend quite a bit of time just trying to decide what to purchase him. Well this year I finally came up with the perfect gift idea for him. I decided to purchase him some camping gear. Last summer we tried our hand at camping for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. So we have plans on doing a lot of camping this summer so any camping gear will be a perfect gift for my husband.

Wow! This year I’m certainly going to get full. Christmas eve I will be cooking our Christmas dinner for the family. Christmas day we will be going to my husband’s sisters for dinner and then on boxing day we will be going to my husband’s father’s for dinner. With all the turkey and trimmings that we will be eating within three days, I may have to seriously look at getting some hoodia pills to help me control any weight that may decide to creep up on me. No not really, as I only weigh 95 pounds, but I’m sure there will be a lot of people who may need a little help like this after the Christmas season.
