Lifes Like That

Times are changing

Times are changing

Times are sure changing then when I was growing up. You never heard of all the crime, drug addictions and all the problems that face our world today back then. Now it seems like every time you turn on the TV or read a newspaper, there is crime everywhere. Now I not normally a paranoid person, but I do have to face facts. I am only 5 foot 1 inches and only weigh 89 pounds, so this trend does concern me quite a bit. Maybe I’ll look into getting some self defense products. This would at least make me feel safer as I am walking the streets of this cruel world. It can’t hurt and would only help in keeping me safe and making me feel safe.

Mini Concert

On Saturday the kid’s grandfather stopped in for a visit.  He then asked my daughter how she was making out in her violin classes.  So of course Kara being the little performer that she is she went into her room and dug out her violin.  Then she proceeded to play four different songs for her grandfather.  He was amazed at how well she plays and is convinced that she has a gift for this type of thing.  Kara was quite proud to here her grandfather talk like that about her and she is now not complaining so much about having to practice a lot.

So, the next time she starts to get discouraged with her violin practicing and playing, I’m just going to call her grandfather up so he can come listen to her play and give her the little extra boost that she needs.

Why Buy.com Rocks!

I’m in recovery! I’m recovering from my “I hate to shop” addiction. Buy.com is helping me through this transition. And…now I’m going to tell you why buy.com rocks.

First and foremost is you get to avoid all the crowds, standing in line, and the seriously high prices. This is accomplished because all your purchases can be done directly online and you even have the option of comparison shopping right off the items page. So, you know that the price you see is the price you pay. And with free shipping, there are no added costs. They use real people to give honest reviews so you know the reviews are based on a real person’s experience. To make the site a little more entertaining, their official spokesperson is the one and only “Howie Mandel”. New customers get an additional $10.00 off with Google checkout.

So, here you go. In this video, which I created myself, you get to watch my recovery in progress. And you get to see for yourself why buy.com rocks.

I couldn’t do it!

Today I took my daughter to get her hair cut with the idea that I was going to get the back of her hair cut quite short.  You really need to see this kid’s hair.  It is right down to her bottom.  She probably has the nicest hair that I’ve ever seen on anybody.  That is why it’s so difficult for me to get it cut.  That and the fact that she has never gotten the back of her hair cut, just trimmed and she is nine.

So, down the road we went.  When we got into the hairdressers, I chickened out.  I asked the hairdresser to trim the back and to cut her bangs.  So, she still has her long beautiful hair and I honestly don’t think that is going to change any time soon.  I’m really starting to think that the only way she will end up with short hair is when she is old enough to make the decision herself.

Where to purchase gold

I have always wondered where a person would go to purchase gold, silver or other precious metals. In the past I have heard people discussing the purchase of gold for future investments and thought that this was a pretty neat idea. So, when I came across this site over at monex.com I found where a lot of people are going to purchase their gold, silver and precious metals commodities.

Over at this site, you would be able to purchase any of these types of metals at a pretty reasonable price. You could either have these products shipped directly to your home or you could ask this company to store them at their facility for you for future delivery. The Monex company has been in business for many years and have proven themselves to be the leaders in this industry. So if your in for a gold, silver or precious metals purchase, why not check out this site and get started on your investment future today.

Where has the time gone?

Wow! I can’t believe that it’s almost the middle of February already. Where in the world has the time gone?? It only seems like yesterday that both kids were excited to start their first day of school. And now they are both through their first half of the school year with only about four months left to go.

The good thing is that both the kids are doing awesome in school with no problems what so ever. Matter of fact my son’s grade 2 teacher told me that right now he would pass on to grade 3 with no problems. So that was great news! They are having a blast in school, but if the next four months go as fast as the past six have gone it won’t be any time before they are out for summer vacation.

I don’t know about you guys, but…does the time go faster as you get older? It sure does seems like that way to me.

Pogos for Supper

Part of my job every day as a mother is trying to come up with exciting and tasty treats for my kids to eat for supper. As I don’t want them to get bored with what is being served to them and then stop eating it, I am constantly on the look out for new and exciting food products for them to try out to hopefully enjoy and beg for more. So, tonight I decided to try something new. I was given two bottles of Grey Poupon mustard to review and try out, and this is mine and my daughter’s honest opinion.

mustard-001.jpgmustard-003.jpg

We tested out both the “Harvest Coarse Ground” mustard and the “Hearty Spicy Brown” mustard. Out of the two, I preferred the harvest coarse ground mustard. I found that it was a bit sweeter than the hearty spicy brown. My daughter preferred the hearty spicy brown mustard as it had more of a kick to it. So if your looking for a mustard that is sweet and tangy, then the coarse ground mustard is the mustard for you. But, if you enjoy your food with a little bite to it, then the hearty spicy brown mustard will be the mustard of choice. She enjoyed this mustard so much that even after her pogo was gone, she was spooning up the rest of the mustard from her plate. She has even asked me to make her a sandwich for school tomorrow with this mustard in it.

So, the verdict is in! These mustard’s got an A+ from me and an A+++ from my daughter. With these two types of mustard’s sitting in my fridge, I can be assured that my daughter will definitely being eating a lot of foods that require mustard. And when these two bottles are gone, you can bet that she will have me running to the store for more. So, suppers at my house won’t be quite so difficult any more.

I’ve been spotlighted

I got an e-mail yesterday from a very dear friend of mine. She is starting a weekly blogging series which spotlights some of her “favorite” mommy bloggers. When I first started blogging, I got so totally hooked on it, that I was telling everyone that I could how fun blogging was. And the fact that you could earn a little extra cash off you blogs was just a little bit of icing on the cake. One of my friends, Tammy started to blog and is thoroughly enjoying the blogging world. So in appreciation of me helping her through all the blogging bumps she wanted my permission to use me as her first featured mommy blogger. Of course I said yes as this is a very special thing to do for any blogger.

So, if you would like to read all the wonderful things that Tammy has to say about me, why not drop by her site and let her know that Kim sent ya!

Thanks again Tammy! Your the best!!

Filling out the paperwork

Every year at this time of year it is the same song and dance. My husband’s company sends out piles of paperwork to fill out for his upcoming insurance policy. We have had to fill out the same forms each and every year for the past ten years and it’s starting to get a bit monotonous. Not only do we need to fill out the standard information regarding health, number of dependants, but this year we also need to fill out a medicare part d form as well. I honestly don’t understand why the company can’t just copy all the information from years gone by. But, if we want to keep all our insurance policies up to date and active, this is something we need to do.
