Lifes Like That

Father’s day is coming

Father’s day is coming

We just got finished with Mother’s day and now Father’s day is in sight. My husband is a mechanic by trade and his interests lie in the car and mechanics field. But because he is a mechanic, I don’t buy him tools or anything like that for special occasions because he seems to have two of everything. Lately he has been talking about investing in Chrysler 300 accessories. Some of these accessories would make a great gift if he would tell me what he want before he rushes out to buy them. Hopefully I can get some answers out of him and surprise him this Father’s day with stuff that he likes, doesn’t already own and will use. Wish me luck.

My collections

I am an avid collector of many things. I collect coins, collector spoons, pigs, cows and jewelry. Yesterday I had the opportunity to add to my jewelry collection. I was at a jewelry store and seen that they had new pocket watches on sale. So I bought two. One for each on my sons when I finally do decide to pass down my collections. Most of my jewelry collection consists of stuff for my daughter so for me to be able to grab a couple of watches for the boys made me feel good. At least when they start getting the items from me, there will be a little bit of things for everyone.

I am amazed!!

My two younger fight a lot!!  They honestly do love one another and are one another’s best friends, but sometimes they just can’t help themselves.  Earlier in a post I mentioned that starting today they will be on a four day weekend and I wasn’t really looking forward to this because of the fighting.  But because I couldn’t stop the weekend from coming, I just had to brace myself for the upcoming fights.

But….I am extremely happy to report that so far so good.  There has been absolutely no fighting at all in my house today.  Now this probably sounds a little weird to you all, but you have to understand that on days off they usually have their first two big fights before 10 o’clock on the morning.  This is why I am so happy about this turn of events.  I know they can’t keep up the good behaviour forever, but the more minutes that tick by without the fighting the happier I am becoming.  Fingers crossed.  Maybe this weekend won’t be so bad after all.

I got lost

You would think that after having my licence for six years and living in this area for the past nine, that I would know my way around the area by now wouldn’t you? But nope. The other day I had to go to someplace where I had never been before and wouldn’t you know it, I took a wrong turn and got lost. Thankfully I was only a little bit out of my way so I didn’t get seriously lost, but I hate the feeling that I get when I do get lost. Which is a lot. I get lost so much, that my husband is looking at buying me a vehicle tracking device just so I stay on course. It’s pretty bad when a person needs one of these trackers just to get around their home town. But honestly, I am that bad.

One of the downfalls of camping

Now don’t get me wrong, going camping is probably my most favorite thing to do in life. It gets us all away from the house and gives the kids different opportunities and activities to get involved in. But there is one downfall to camping and that is how stuffy the air can get in our trailer. It’s not too bad during the day because we have all the screens open, but when the trailer is buttoned up for the night it can get a bit stuffy. So this year we have planned to get around this. We are planning on purchasing a couple of air purifiers to combat this problem. Once this *little* problem is taken care of, I can’t see any other issues that we may encounter on our first trip out for the season. But, nothing ever goes as planned so it wouldn’t surprise me if something else does come up.

Final day of peace

When the kids get home from school today that will be on a long weekend. Tomorrow the teacher’s have meetings and Monday is a provincial holiday. So the kids will be home for four days. It is the last time off that they will have before the school year ends, so I guess I can’t complain too much. But…they fight so bad that I dread long weekends.

We are going camping this weekend so hopefully this will keep their fighting down to a dull roar. The fighting has gotten so bad sometimes that I have actually asked other mother’s about their kids behavior. And I must say that I was quite surprised to hear that their kids fight just as much as my two do. It doesn’t make me like the fighting anymore than I do, but at least I can take comfort in the fact of knowing that I’m not alone. But, hopefully this weekend will be different.

This computer is not that old!!

Back in February my husband bought me this laptop. My old one was running really slow and constantly jamming up all the time. My frustration level was over the top when I was trying to work on the Internet or work on all my blogs. So because he felt sorry for me, he decided to surprise me with a brand new laptop. For the past three months I have been seriously happy with it, but I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that it is running a lot slower than it originally did. I have tried cleaning it out to see if that was the problem, but that didn’t seem to help.

So I am wondering if I may need to do a computer memory upgrade on this thing. I really hope not, but if that’s what it takes to speed my machine up, then that’s something I’m definitely going to have to look into. I refuse to go back to the way things were on my old computer.

Getting older

Last Friday was my birthday. And although I don’t feel any older, when I look back at pictures even five years ago, I can see that I am starting to look older. I have more gray hair then I used to (too much for a 40 year old) and a lot more wrinkles that weren’t there before. But these two problems can be taken care of quite nicely. For the gray hairs, a box of dye does it justice and for the wrinkles, a little jar of top wrinkle cream will help to diminish them. Now don’t get me wrong, I really don’t mind growing older, it’s just some days I’m looking 50 not 40. But all in all I think I’m doing pretty darn good for a 40 year old mother who has had three kids. I just need a little help along the way to only look 40.

It’s been 10 years

On Friday my husband celebrated his 10 year anniversary at his job.  Wow, I can’t believe that it’s been 10 years already.  I can remember the day he went for the interview and how nervous he was.  Well since he’s been there for so long, I’m assuming he has gotten over his nervousness. lol

His boss was pretty great to him on Friday.  They gave him a beautiful gold diamond studded pin for his 10 years of service.  The entire shop took him out to dinner to celebrate this day and his boss gave a very moving speech to him in front of the guys.  Although he has had some problems over the years, he does seem to be content so I guess we can probably expect another 10 years to go by.  And if it goes as quickly as the last 10 it won’t be anytime at  all before he hits the 20 year mark.

Oh…I almost forgot to mention the best part.  He now gets four weeks vacation during the summer.  So that means an extra week of camping for us!

Convenience Credit Cards

A little over a year ago when I started looking at different credit cards to apply for to build up my non existent credit history, I became highly confused. There are so many different types of credit cards available to consumers these days that I had a seriously difficult time trying to decide which type of card I should go for. I didn’t want to make a mistake and end up with a credit card that could only be used at certain places or ones that would cost me an arm and a leg in interest charges.

I really wish I had been aware of this site over at yourcreditoptions.com. Over at this site, they take the guess work out of deciding which card is best for you. They list all the different types of cards such as Gasoline Credit Cards , low interest versus high interest cards, reward cards as well as Instant Credit Cards. Until I started browsing this site, I honestly had no clue as to the amount of information that is available to consumers when making their choices. Now that I know of this site’s existence, I will be stopping by there the next time I need to make any decision regarding credit cards.
