Tiny whispers

Tiny whispers

Little kids really do amuse me.   Why is it when you want them to play quietly, they are playing so loud that the people in the next town can hear them, but when they have something really important to say, they talk in tiny whispers??  My youngest son does this to me all the time.  He’s so loud and talks so much that most of the time I tune him out and I really have to stop doing this.

Yesterday he asked me a question and as I really wasn’t listening to him, I kind of tuned him out and just answered with my standard OK.  He got so excited that I said yes to “something” that I had to ask him to repeat the question and then discovered I had agreed to something that I wouldn’t have had I been listening.  I think it’s a trick they have on all us parents and sometimes they do get away with it.  But I learned my lesson and I will be listening to him a bit more closely from now on.

Fascinating reading material

Normally when I pick something to read it will be a historical romance novel of some sort. Last night I wanted something different to read, so I picked out a New York City travel magazine at the store. I have to say I was highly impressed with the articles that I read in it. I enjoyed the magazine so much that before I went to bed I had read this magazine from cover to cover. Normally I don’t really enjoy magazines, but this one surprised me. I enjoyed all the pictures and the articles and when the new issue comes out, I will definitely be making another purchase. But since my magazine has been read, I guess I’ll go find a novel to read tonight.

We went camping!!

Finally after a month of trying, I am able to post that we did in fact go camping this weekend.  Well your probably wondering why I am able to post this on Sunday.  We had to come home early today as my son had a birthday party to go to today and I am posting this while I wait to go pick him up from the party.  Although we did get to go, the trip wasn’t really that great.  It was seriously cold and windy yesterday so you really couldn’t enjoy yourself outside.  And this morning it was raining so we packed up and left and bought breakfast on our way home.  But still it was nice to get away and the kids had fun.  I’m sure we will go out a few more times this summer and hopefully the next time the weather may be a little nicer for us.  But at least we finally got to go.

It’s about time!

Having two small children at home who have no clue as to what time is suitable to get out of bed in the mornings can be quite exhausting for a parent. Trust me. I know. My two kids are usually up before 6:00 am every morning (even on weekends) thinking it’s time to get up for their day. I really need to purchase them each a Teach Me Time Clock to get all our sleep patterns back on track. This clock is really cool. Not only will it teach young children how to tell time, but some of the other features it has is a must need in any household with children who don’t want to stay in bed.

This clock is a talking clock and will also turn green when it’s time for the children to get up. Although I never had the opportunity to purchase something like this when my oldest son was younger, I do have the opportunity now and I can’t think of any better way for me (and the children) to get our much needed extra sleep every morning.

It’s going to happen

Finally after a month of waiting the camping trip is on!  Yeah!!  In a little while I will be headed to the grocery store to buy our groceries for our upcoming camping trip.  Then I will have everything packed by the time my husband gets home from work and we will be headed out.  By leaving tonight, we will get two days and nights in for this weekend.  We will then leave the campsite early Sunday morning to get back home in time for my son to go to a birthday party and for my husband and daughter to be able to deliver my father-in-law’s father’s day present (a barbecue).  After the party Daniel and I will head down to his house to break in the barbecue.  So I think it’s going to be an awesome weekend and for once the weatherman is going to co-operate with us.

Applied for our first mortgage

So after a couple of months of searching and doing a lot of research on different mortgage lenders, we were finally able to agree on one that we both liked and trusted and applied to have our very first mortgage. We wanted to be pre-approved before we made any decisions on whether to buy a house in our current neighborhood or whether to purchase our father in laws house. Once we get the approval (finger’s crossed) we will then make our final decision on which way to proceed. This is such an exciting time in our lives, but it’s so scary as well. Right now the trailer we live in is bought and paid for so having a mortgage hanging over our heads is a little scary. But if it means I get a house, then I guess I’m willing to pay the price.

World’s worst backseat driver

And…this award goes to my husband. I have to say that in past years I have had a few people try to teach me how to drive. But out of all of them, my husband has to be the very worst student driver teacher I have ever come across. Even though I now do have my licence and have had them for about five years, he is still the worst passenger I can have in my car. He’s so bad that I absolutely refuse to drive with him at all. If we go anywhere (even in my car) I hand the keys over to him. I have tried to drive with him in the passenger seat and I swear to god that by the time we reach our destination I feel like heading back down the road to divorce court. So for the sake and sanctity of our marriage, when we go anywhere as I family I keep my butt firmly planted in the passenger seat.

When I was having babies they never had these neat products out there like they do today. So I would like to take this opportunity to tell all you new mommies out there about a wonderful product that I recently came across. It’s a Mutsy stroller and it’s got to be the neatest stroller that I’ve seen on the market in a very long time.

Here I am

About a month ago someone here left me a comment about posting a picture of me. Well…I finally got brave enough and here I am. No..really this is me. The ball cap and all. If you knew me personally, which a couple of you do, then you would know that I am never without my ball cap. I am not a girly girl and I like to be comfortable. So…this is me in all my finery. Enjoy the picture as it will probably be NEVER when you see another one. lol

Gorgeous day today

It was so gorgeous, sunny and warm today that I did something that I haven’t done in a very long time. I took out my trusty laptop and sat outside while the kids were playing. Not only did this give them the much needed fresh air that they need but I was also able to get a lot of work done as well. I can see that this summer I will be doing a lot of this. We live in a trailer and when it’s hot like it was today the trailer is just to hot to stay inside of. So with my laptop I will be able to enjoy all the fresh air I want and get all the work done that I need to.
