Tammy and over at Mom Knows Everything is having her very first givaway. Loblaws grocery store has given Tammy a basket of food to give away to one of her lucky readers. And if you enter, it could be you. It’s really easy to enter the contest, all you need to do is go here and leave her a comment that you would like to enter. But if you do a post on your blog or blogs that will give you more entries. There is only one catch. You have to be Canadian to enter.
So if your a Canadian and would like the chance to win a basket of food then I highly suggest that you pop on over to Tammy’s site, check out the basket of food and tell her you’d like to enter.
Good luck to all. And yes…I really do mean it.

For the past couple of years my daughter has been bugging me to take horse back riding lessons. I have put her off about this adventure as it does cost a lot of money. But my husband and I were talking about it and now that she is 10 we have decided that we may check into this a little more seriously. It could be worse I guess we could have to pay for a horse, horse supplies, and housing a horse. So when you look at it this way it really isn’t that expensive for lessons. We haven’t told her of our intentions just yet. We want to shop around and compare different prices before we tell her of any decision we have made.

Well this summer is almost dead and gone. The kids are on their last week at home. And this weekend is the long labour day weekend which marks the end of the summer vacation. It has been an extremely long summer with the kids home this year and they are both looking forward to going back to school next Tuesday. I don’t know who is looking more forward to this event, them or me. These two kids are the type of children that NEED to be in school. They need to routine and the structure and if they don’t have it, they don’t know what to do with themselves. So next Tuesday they will be back on the bus with a smile on their faces and I will be sitting in front of my computer with a huge smile on my face.

Last year my 10 year old daughter started playing the violin in school. Now she enjoyed this very much except for the fact that her hands were on display a lot and she had quite a few warts covering her hands. She didn’t want to play in front of anyone because of the embarrassment of all the warts and some of her classmates did make fun of her for this.
So I took her to the doctor to get a wart treatment. He did state that it was a very painful procedure and if she couldn’t handle the pain then not to push the treatment on her. He said the 99% of the time kids warts will go away on their own. Well the treatment was too painful for her to handle and she decided that she would rather put up with the warts then go through the treatments.
Well the doctor was right!! Each and every wart on her hands have gone by the wayside this summer. She has absolutely no sign of any. So when she starts playing again in a couple of weeks, she will not have to be embarrassed about any part of her hands. So I guess the moral of this story is…my doctor knows more about warts than I do. lol

Finally after two years my kitchen faucet doesn’t leak any more. About a month ago my husband and I went out and purchased brand new Danze faucets to replace the old leaking ones in the kitchen. Last weekend he finally installed them. I can’t tell you how pleased I am that I don’t have to wipe up a sinkful of water every time I do dishes now. I’m so impressed that I have actually been doing dishes every day since he installed them. Don’t worry this won’t last long, and soon I’ll get tired of my new faucets. But not for a while I don’t think.

Earlier this morning my husband and I set out with the kids to attend the giant flea market and car show that was being held in a town about an hours drive away from here. It is the largest flea market in this area and they hold it every year. We haven’t been to this event in many years and I was wondering why. But after walking around the event for over two hours, I suddenly remembered why we don’t make this an annual event. After we got back in the vehicle to head home I was so sore that I was actually contemplating in investing in some massage therapy. I am so sore just by walking around the different exhibits. So I think that I will hop into a nice bubble bath to try to eliminate all the soreness. I don’t ever remember this flea market being this big and I may just think twice about the walking again next year.

I am so very proud of me. Just before the summer season started I set up my home gym and started working out again. I honestly didn’t think that I would stick with it, but I have. That’s why I’m so proud of myself. Normally when I start something I get bored with it so I usually end up stopping what ever I’ve been doing. But not this time.
The main reason why I work out is to build up strength. So most of my equipment is strength equipment. I don’t need to lose any weight but I have been trying to build muscle and strength. So far I am quite impressed with my results so I’m pretty sure I will keep at it. At least during the fall. When winter hits that could be a completely different story. But we will see.

This past weekend my husband and I were listening to the news on our car radio and heard about a really bad accident that took place in a town not the far away from our home. The accident involved two cars and three motorcycles. Thankfully no one was killed, but there were a couple of very serious injuries. Well you can imagine my husband’s utter shock when he went into work this morning and found out that two of the people that were involved in this accident were his boss and his girlfriend. The girlfriend was OK. Just a few scrapes and bruises. But his boss is currently in the hospital in critical condition. I suppose this accident could have been much worse, but it was still bad knowing that one of the injured parties is someone we know really well. But he is in better condition than when he went in. So we are all hoping and praying for his speedy recovery.

Although it’s only August, it not too early to be thinking about Christmas shopping. With three kids and one husband to buy for (and yeah, me), it usually costs us quite a bit of money around that time of the year. So this year I got smart and started my shopping a little early. And because I hate to shop in malls, I have chosen to do a lot of my Christmas shopping online. One site that I visit often is over at marissacollections.com. They have such a wide variety of gift giving ideas that I normally spend quite a bit of time at the site. I browse through all their collections of Manolo Blahniks, children’s gifts and gifts for my husband. I just love their collections and visit their site on a daily basis. If it wasn’t for sites like this one, I would probably have to go into the malls and that means I wouldn’t get a whole lot of Christmas shopping done at all.
