Well now that I’ve decided to try my hand at transcription, I really need to find some quiet space to call my own to do this. This type of job just isn’t possible when sitting at my kitchen table. There are two many distractions while sitting at the table and I just can’t get the work done that needs to be done. So, I’ve decided to clean out my home office once again. Because I threw a lot of stuff in this room when I was getting ready for Christmas (even my tv stands), I have a serious mess that I need to clean up. I have decided that this will be my big project to get done this week. I need to get this done this week because next week both kids will be home all week on March break. Any as any of you parents out there are aware of, getting ANYTHING done with kids around is darn near impossible.
Wish me luck and I’ll let you all know how I make out with this endeavour.

My youngest son really does believe that I can do anything. Next week, during art class they are going to be making some homemade rubber stamps. And he volunteered my services to help out his class. He informed the teacher that I make all sorts of crafts so it would be a good idea if I came in and helped. So yesterday she called me and asked for my assistance. When I informed her that I have clue how to make rubber stamps (that’s one craft I don’t do) she started laughing and asked if I would come in anyway to supervise. Well, I’m good at that so I told her I would. My son really wanted me there, so I guess next week I will be able to learn how to make rubber stamps along with the rest of the class.

For those who know me personally, this post is going to come as a great shock to you all. This morning (7:10 am to be exact) I ended up having to WALK the kids to the bus stop. The reason why this is so shocking, is because of the fact that I NEVER walk. Seriously, if I can’t take my car, I don’t go. I know this sounds very lazy and unhealthy, but this is me.
Now on to the reason why I had to do this shocking deed. Yesterday we got hit with a massive snow storm. And although my husband and my youngest son shoveled the driveway, they did not shovel around my car and I couldn’t get it out of the driveway. Oh…I tried, but the darn thing wouldn’t budge. So I had two choices. One…walk the kids to the bus stop or two…have them home all day. Well…there is only one other thing that I detest more in life than walking and that would be to have the kids home on a day when their supposed to be in school. LOL Decision was made quite quickly actually. And down the road we went.

For those who don’t know me personally, let me tell you all that I’m not a techie person in any way. Up until three years ago the only thing I knew about computers was how to turn one on. I’ve come a long way baby! LOL Now I can operate my digital camera, camcorder (really had no clue on these ones either) and my iPhone. So I’ve decided to branch out in the technology world and purchase some iphone accessories. Me even knowing what an iphone is, is a major step in the right direction. But as always, I will do the proper research before purchasing anything. After all, I don’t want to end up with a bunch of stuff I can’t use or can’t figure out how to use.

For a little over a month now I have been doing a lot of research on what it would take to get involved with an online transcription career. Let me tell you that I am amazed at all the work, research and practice that goes into this type of career. I thought it would be just as easy as just typing what people are saying, but that definitely isn’t the case. Transcription is more than just typing and listening. I have been doing this research slowly and carefully because I would really like to determine if this is something I can do or will want to do in the future. There are so many things that a transcriptionist needs to take into account. You need to be aware of any conversion rate optimization areas, typing speed, different styles of grammar and spelling as well as what type of equipment you would need to get the job done professionally as well as quickly.
After doing a lot of research in this area, I have decided that this is probably something that I’m going to do. This type of career is right up my alley and to get paid for it as well is just icing on the cake.

During the winter months my two kids go skating with their classes. They each get to go four times during the season. My son has already gone three times and today will mark day three for my daughter as well. I always end up going to help them put on their skates and then I stand around the rink for an hour and watch them skate. I really don’t mind doing this except there is one thing that I’m really not crazy about. And that would be when they have early skate times. When their skating time is really early, I don’t have time for my coffee and that makes me cranky. LOL But on those days, I leave a little early and hit the local coffee shop. That is what I will be doing this morning as my daughter does have an early skate. Oh well. Only two more skating days to go!

With the doctor shortage in our area, I was quite surprised when my husband told me that his father fired his doctor. Apparently they had differing opinions on how this man was going to get healthier. My father in law just wanted to go to the drug store and purchase some weight loss pills but his doctor wanted him to go into the hospital for some tests before he started taking anything new. Obviously my father in law didn’t agree with his doctor and the next thing we knew, he fired his doctor. He refuses to go see him any longer and without having another doctor to take his case, he could be in some serious trouble. My husband plans on going to his house tonight to discuss the situation, but I really have to wonder if his father is even going to listen to him. If not, then he is really going to have to work hard at finding another doctor. At his age, he really can’t afford not to have one.

Seriously folks. I think I’m going to need to invest in some travel health insurance and just run away from all this crazy weather. For the past few days we have been in a serious cold snap and now today it is actually quite warm. The only problem with this warmth is the fact that it is melting all the snow on the roads and at night time, this water freezes. Yes, then all our roads end up like a skating rink. Getting the kids to school this morning was no easy feat, and I’m just pleased that we all made it to our destination relatively unharmed.
Will this crazy weather ever settle down? I’m starting to wonder if we will still be dealing with the snow and ice when June arrives.

Today the temperature only reached -16 degrees Celsius with a windchill factor of -28. And yes, I had to go out in it. I had to go get groceries and after I was done and back in the house, I was pretty cold. Well things don’t look like they will be getting any better in the near future. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be just as cold and I have to go sit in a cold rink first thing in the morning. Then on Wednesday I have to go out to help supervise my son’s sledding party. And it’s supposed to be just as cold if not colder on this day.
So, my question to the general population is: Will I ever be warm again??
