Lifes Like That

So I’m completely ready to start a quilt. I cleared out my craft room, found all my supplies and this past weekend bought all the fabric I will need to create my first quilt in almost four years. I can’t wait to get started and will start on this quilt this afternoon after I’ve written up some articles on malpractice insurance that I’ve promised an employer. At this moment I’d really rather be quilting but for now these articles bring in the paycheck so I have to stay focused and complete the paying jobs before I begin on a job where I might get some income from eventually. So…. after I’ve got a bit of this quilt made I’ll come back on in and posts some pics of my progress. Again, I can’t wait to get started!

So I have decided that one way I can make money is by making quilts and selling them. When I did this type of venture a few years ago I made some pretty good money with it and had fun as well. So I’ve decided to try to start this project back up again. Yesterday I spent the day cleaning out my craft room and now today I have been sorting through all my craft supplies to see what I have and what I will need. Then this weekend my husband has promised to take me out fabric shopping. So I’m hoping by Monday I will be back into the quilting fever. I’ll keep you all posted and when I have a few quilts made I’ll take pics and upload photos. I’m getting quite excited and can’t wait to start!

It’s been a little while since I actually did some crafts. I went to a few craft fairs this past season but only sold stuff that I had already made up. But I did end up making a necklace and bracelet set for my father in law’s wife and this got me back into the crafting mode. So I have decided to keep this up and continue to create. I would love to be able to design my own funny t shirts and sell them, but since I am a creator and not a designer, I guess that kind of venture won’t be happening soon. But it does feel good to create handcrafted crafts once again so I’m hoping a can carve a few minutes a day to keep up with this.

Earlier this week I decided to try to revamp my home crafting business. I have quite a few homemade items in stock so decided that maybe by advertising my things like my Black diamond earrings and necklaces I could possibly catch a few sales. Well I am happy to report that I was kind of successful. I was able to sell two sets of jewelry so I actually made a bit of cash this week. So this has given me the motivation to make more and advertise more. Hopefully I’ll see more successes like this in the future.

So as you all know, I do a lot of crafts. I do a lot, but really don’t accomplish much. I start one project, get bored with it, and then move on to another project. Well, it seems that I’ve done this again. For the past couple of weeks I have been busy knitting an afghan for our bed. Well I seem to be bored with that, so I have put it away for awhile. Yesterday I was straightening up my craft room and came across some old Christmas Cards. So I’ve decided to start scrapbooking again. The kids have gotten a few cards over the years so I have decided to put their cards in their scrapbooks. So yes, once again I am scrapbooking. Wonder what craft I will decide on next?!

So I’ve decided to teach myself a new craft. I am going to attempt to make some homemade scented candles. Just before Christmas I bought a candle making kit but haven’t even opened the box. Well today is the day that the box will be opened and I will try my hand at this type of craft. Hopefully these candles turn out the way I want them to and I will be able to add them to my collection of things to sell. After I get them made up, I will take pics and post them so you all can see my latest creations.

This weekend our town is hosting a craft fair. Now I just found out about it so it was kind of to late for me to get a table into this fair. But I plan on going anyway. Even if I don’t have a table in a fair I still like to go to see what types of crafts other folks are making as well as looking at the different counter displays to see which ones are the most eye appealing. This way when I do put in a table for a fair, I normally have quite a few nice products up for sale as well as having a very pleasing eye display. So I won’t be making any money off my crafts this weekend, I will still be learning how to get my products sold.

A week before Christmas I bought a candle making kit. Well I haven’t been able to get a start on any candles as my craft room is completely filled with junk. So I’ve decided that today is the day that all this junk is going to go. If I can get my room cleaned out and find some room in there I will be able to start making some candles. I want to try my hand at this craft so I have to force myself to do some cleaning. So I guess I will be busy for a little while not sitting on my computer.

So far this year I’ve made a decent amount of money on my Christmas crafts. This is the time of year that people are looking for beautiful and unique gifts and thankfully I have a lot in stock. I haven’t managed to make any tanzanite earrings but I do have quite a few necklace, bracelet and earrings sets for sale. I have one more craft fair to attend this season and I’m really hoping I do well there. After Christmas I will then take stock of everything I have left and see how successful I’ve been this holiday season. So I think I’ve finally had it! For the past few months I have not been able to work in my craft room as my husband keeps piling it up with junk. Well I miss crafting so I have decided that today is the day that I’m going to do something about it. I plan on cleaning out this room and then I will be able to start crafting once again. Once I get this room cleaned out I plan on putting a lock on the door so that nobody but me can go in there and mess it up. This way when it gets messy I’ll have no one to blame but myself.
