Although I have been busy trying to get a small home crafting business up and running. My efforts don’t seem to be paying off very well. So I’m thinking that I’m going to have to make some changes in the way I do things. The first thing I need to do is get a better budgeting and planning schedule worked out. I think this may be a big reason why things are not going the way I want to. Right now I have no clue what my budget should be and forget about having a proper planning schedule. I think if I tackle these two concepts in a more professional manner, I may start to see the results that I’m looking for.
I’ll let you all know how I make out this.

Last month I went to a craft fair that was in our area. My main reason for attending this craft fair was to try to sell some of my homemade jewelry and make a little money. I did pretty good and have already made plans to attend another one during the month of June.
While I was at the craft fair, I also discovered another great reason why crafter’s should attend these functions. This reason is that you get to see all the other creations that other’s have made and it could possibly give you some inspirations for your own creations. So I starting walking around the fair and looking at all the designer jewelry that other’s had for sale and got a lot of inspiration for some pieces that I would like to make in the future. So not only did I make a little money, but I came away from that craft fair with a little knowledge as well.

Well I’ve finally got off my backside and started my quilting again. I really do need to get this quilting done as the work I’m suppose to complete is for a lady that wants three quilts by this Christmas. You would think that knowing this project is going to make me some money, that I would be quickly pumping out these quilts, but no, that isn’t the way it’s working out. But I have convinced myself that this work needs to be completed. So I have hauled out my sewing machine, safety cutters, and all the fabric and I am good to go.

Although I am very crafty in some areas such as knitting, quilting and jewelry making, some artistic areas I am seriously lacking in. I would love to be able to paint, sculpt or even body paint. But that is where my creativity ends. Even though I am not that kind of artist, I really enjoy do looking at other people’s works and I have always wondered as to where they get their talent and designs for some of their creations. I would have to say that I am highly interested in the art of body painting and lately I have being doing a little bit of research on this subject.
I have always wondered where in the world people find enough liquid latex to be able to do this type of art. I would imagine it would take a great deal of paint, and it is probably quite expensive. I guess that is why it’s pretty cool that their are sites available such as liquidlatex.com where a person could get all the body paint they would need. Not only can you find a wide array of colours from this site, but they also come in three different size cans. You can get them in the 16oz, 32oz and gallon containers. Also, if your not ready to make a big purchase of a lot of paint, you can always browse their paint sleeves to get an idea of what you would like. Purchasing is extremely easy and all you need to do is place your order directly from their site and they will have it shipped to your destination.
So if this type of art is something that you are interested in, or you would like more information regarding the needed supplies to get started in the body art business, then I highly recommend checking out this site to see what they have to offer.

Since starting up my small home crafting business and setting up a website to display all the products that I have for sale, I have not had a whole lot of traffic to this site. So, I have decided to try something different to get the word out about my brand new site. This weekend I am going to a craft fair and I will be giving away some personalized pens to prospective buyers. After doing a little research, I have found this to be an effective advertising method to get the word out. Hopefully by giving away these pens, I will be able to drive a little extra traffic to my site.

Finally after three weeks of having sick kids home (and a sick husband), I have the house to myself today. My daughter went back to school today after being out of school for an entire week due to phenomia. She is on the mend and back to her normal routine, so this makes it so I can get back to my normal routine. This means it is going to be a very busy day for me today. I need to clean out my car (to get it ready for inspection), go to the store to buy wrapping paper and tape, wrap gifts and do some more work on my homemade jewelry to get ready for a craft fair this weekend. If the kids were still sick and at home, all this work wouldn’t be possible. But with them both in school and my husband back at work, I have run out of excuses. lol

Today outside the weather is pretty crappy. Last night it snowed and today it’s very cold and windy so I have decided that today will be a day that I will spend sorting out all my craft supplies. The other night when I went out shopping I bought a few small containers for my crafting supplies and today I am going to sort them and put them into different containers. This way when I decide to do a project, I won’t have to go searching through all the boxes for all the items that I will need. So, although the weather outside today isn’t very nice, I think that I will still get quite a bit accomplished.

Not me. But, that’s OK. As you all know, about a month ago I entered a scrapbooking contest. I bugged most of you for a couple of weeks to go into the site and cast your votes and I have to say you all did an awesome job!! I really, really appreciate all the time you all took to try to help me win the contest. But, unfortunately I didn’t win first place. But, I did win second place and that prize is pretty cool to. I won a year’s subscription to a scrapbooking magazine. So, I still won something pretty cool and something that I can use in my scrapbooking hobby.
So, first of all I would like to THANK each and every one of you for all your votes and if it hadn’t of been for you all, I wouldn’t have even come close to second.
So, THANKS!!

Since both of the kids were sick this past weekend, we didn’t go anywhere or do anything special. We just stayed inside all weekend to try to get them better. So, I spent a lot of time sewing over the weekend. The doggie quilt that I started for a friend of mine that I used to work with is really coming along quite nicely. If I keep up this pace with it, I should be ready to put the stuffing and back on it within the next couple of weeks. It is a very easy quilt to make and a very easy pattern, so this is why it isn’t taking me quite so long to get the work done on it. My friend is going to be really surprised when I call her to tell her it’s completed. When I am finally done with it, I will post a picture of the finished product. So, look for a picture to be posted here within the next couple of weeks.
