Less than three weeks to go

Wow less than three weeks to go until Christmas. I have been pretty busy shopping and wrapping and am almost done but I still do have to buy my oldest son a big present to go with the rest of his stuff. He is really into music so I have been looking at some acoustic guitars as a gift for him. Currently he doesn’t know how to play guitar but I think if I gave him one he would gladly learn how to play. Years ago he used to pick up mine every once and a while and did show some interest. And since I have no clue what to purchase a 22 year old that doesn’t live home, I think this would make a great gift. He certainly wouldn’t be expecting it!

A new babysitter

After four years of taking the children to work with me every shift, last night for the first time ever I was able to leave them home. We finally allowed our daughter to babysit her brother. She has been able to (by law) watch him for about a year now but we’ve been putting it off because of their constant fighting. But over the past week or so we’ve left them home for tiny spurts and things seemed to have worked out. So last night I left them in the house and went to work. They did awesome! There was no fighting and they didn’t get into anything. So I guess now I have a babysitter and my husband and I may be able to get out more just the two of us.

Started Christmas shopping

Yes I know, it’s only September. But Christmas is coming and for once I want to be prepared. I have already been looking at items for my husband and the children and have come up with some pretty great ideas for them all. Now all I have to do is come up with the money and I’ll be all set. My husband is a little more difficult to buy for then the kids as normally if he wants something he’ll just go out and purchase it himself, but the other day I did see him looking at a canon projector and I don’t think this is something he would go out and buy himself. So yes, I am getting good ideas for presents, now I’ll just have to bite the bullet and spend the money.

Awesome Mother’s day!

So how was your Mother’s day? Mine was totally awesome! It was probably the best Mother’s day I’ve ever had and I have a 22 year old son so that’s saying something. The reason was it was totally awesome was because for the first time in almost four years I got a Mother’s day phone call from my oldest son! We talked for almost an hour and honestly guys it was the best present this kid has ever gotten me. I hadn’t heard from him in over 10 months so to hear from him, know he’s okay and be able to talk to him for so long absolutely made my day!

Messed up week

Some of you may notice that I didn’t spend a lot of time posting in here this week. Well that’s because this has been one messed up week. On Tuesday my son was home sick from school and then on Wednesday and Thursday my husband was home sick. And… today both kids are home from school due to teacher’s meetings. So I really haven’t had a lot of time to myself this past week to get anything done. The weekend doesn’t look much better for getting things done either. Oh well, Monday is coming and hopefully the entire family will be out of the house and I will be able to get back to my routine once again.

Buying a Diamond She’ll Love

Buying a Diamond She’ll Love

Unless you have a vintage family heirloom to use as the ring to propose with, you are going to wonder what kind of engagement ring are you going to get that will please her. You can take a cue from the style of jewelry she already wears, but the fact is if she doesn’t like your final choice she may think it’s unromantic to say anything. Luckily, today many couples are choosing his and her engagement rings and this can help to get her exactly what she wants, while you get something, too. If you’re not sure what to get her and you think the ring might be returned, here are a few strategies to adopt to make sure you don’t end up making a costly mistake.

Buy a Placeholder Ring

This is the ring you propose with and then you get the real ring afterwards, and include her preference. You can pick a ring from a jewelry store and as long as you know that you can return it within 10 days or less, you can make the proposal and then go shopping for the actual ring, if she does not like the one you chose. The only restriction is that you will most likely have to buy it where you got the ring that is being returned, unless there is a full money back policy.

Shop Online

You can get her family’s opinion by using something like a ring builder to create some different designs that are virtual. See if they can clue you into which style she might favor and then make them keep it a secret until the proposal. Often a family member knows the style of jewelry a woman in her family likes.
Plan a Couples Engagement

Some couples are planning to propose to each other, complete with rings they pick out for each other too. If that’s the case, it’s not a big secret, but it can still be a memorable occasion and important ritual to mark your commitment to each other. It also makes it a lot easier to pick out rings your both like.

Where have I been???

Well actually I’ve been around, I just haven’t been on the computer very much this past week. For the last week I have had my husband home from work on holidays and I haven’t been able to get a thing done. Seriously, nothing got done around here this past week. Having him home for a week is way worse than having the two little ones home for a week. At least they’ll go and do something and I don’t have to entertain them. Not him, nope. He needs constant attention. Really the only peace I’ve had this past week was when he was online looking up morgan silver dollars to add to our collection or when he was sleeping! But thankfully he’s back to work today so I will be able to get a lot of work done today.

New addition to the family

The kids didn’t have a very good start to their March break last week. Last Monday night their pet hamster passed away and they were both very upset about this. They both did say that they wanted a new hamster but were still upset about the passing of their other one. Well on Saturday my husband came home with a new hamster. His name is Digger and he is a teddy bear hamster. He is kind of cute. Well when my husband walked in with Digger, you couldn’t wipe the smile off my youngest son’s face. So we have a new addition to our household. Hopefully this one survives a lot longer than the last one.

Valentine’s in a couple of weeks

So we’re all aware that Valentine’s day is less than two weeks away aren’t we?? Well something you may not know is that this day is also my husband’s b-day. So I have to purchase two presents for that day or at least one really good one. So I have been doing a little digging around the Internet looking for personalized gifts for men and I think I’ve come up with a few great ideas. I still have a couple of weeks to make up my mind so I’m not in a real panic yet. But… time is moving on and Valentine’s day will be here before I know it. So I know I have to make this purchase soon.

Present time again

Wow I can’t believe that it’s almost Valentine’s day. It just seems like we got over the gift giving season of Christmas and now we’ve got to spend more money on Valentine’s day gifts. Well I have to spend a little more money than most on that day as it’s also my husband’s birthday. I think I’m going to purchase him some Avo cigars for his big day. He loves to smoke a cigar every now and again so I think this might be a pretty good present for him.
