Lifes Like That

Well my husband and I had a date night planned for tonight but unfortunately we have to cancel it. Right now we are in the middle of a major snowstorm and venturing out on a night like this if we don’t have to really isn’t in the cards. We were planning on going out to a movie and to a dinner without the children! Oh well, I guess by cancelling it then I really won’t need to stock up on the top rated diet pills now will I?? Hopefully we will be able to reschedule it as we really do need a night out!

My husband is so funny. Last week I finished all of our Christmas shopping and told my husband we were all good to go. Well apparently he didn’t take my word for it as he went out last night after work and did some more. Well now we have quite a few presents sitting in our house. We ended up getting his father a gift card from Canadian Tire and some cohiba cigars as well. Plus I had already gotten him and his wife a gift card from where I work. So I think we are really, really good to go. I just hope this man will stop shopping now but you never know. I guess time will tell if we are really truly done Christmas shopping.

So after 16 years of being together and three children later, my husband and I are going for the very first time to get a professional picture taken. Thank God I had already invested in some of the best anti wrinkle cream that I could find before this blessed event. While we’re there we are also going to get the children’s picture taken as well. So… I’m quite excited and can’t wait until next week to get this taken care of.

Tonight is one of three Santa Clause parades and I can’t tell you how excited the two kids are to attend this event. My husband and I aren’t exactly thrilled about it. But hey, Christmas is for kids now isn’t it? This parade they will get to watch, but next weeks parade my son will be participating in. It really does feel like Christmas when Santa comes to town now doesn’t it??

My youngest son was home from school for the past two days with a really bad cough and cold. He was coughing so much that I honestly couldn’t send him to school. I figured I would end up getting a phone call to come and get him anyway. Well he went back to school today feeling much better but…. I have it. Today I feel miserable and I blame it all on him. Oh well, that’s what kids are for right?? To give us little treasures.

Well I think my husband has finally kicked the habit. He has been a smoker for quite a few years and lately hasn’t been feeling the best. So he has decided to kick the habit. He has been off the Rocky Patel cigars and cigarettes for a couple of weeks now. I know how hard this was for him and how hard it will continue to be for him so I give him a lot of credit for getting this far. Now… if I could only do the same, we’d be a smoke free family.

I am so not a morning person. And getting up at 5:30 am is for the birds. But that’s what I had to do today. My husband informed me last night that he had to go out of town this morning for a training course on how to work on hydroponic systems. So 5:30 am this morning he woke me up so I would be awake to get the children ready for school. Well it’s now 8:40 am and I am extremely tired. These early days are just not my idea of fun.

The kid’s pet hamster passed away last night. The children and I had to go to my work and when my husband picked them up and brought them home my daughter discovered that their hamster was no longer with us. They were so…. upset. My youngest son especially took it very hard. They cried for a little while and then tried to think about the happier times with their hamster. Thank goodness I had some shots of him taken with our wireless cctv cameras. Now they can keep him memory alive in their hearts and minds and check out the photos every once in a while as well.

Well once again this summer we are tied down to our home this weekend. My husband has to work this weekend so we really can’t do much of anything again this summer. I really have to say that this has been a waste of a summer as he has worked so much that we really haven’t been able to do a lot. He has been talking about looking for a different job and I really hope he does. Maybe then we might actually get some time off together to do some fun stuff with the kids.

My husband’s niece is home for a visit. She lives about 1000 miles away and we haven’t seen her since she was 8 years old which is about 13 years ago. Yesterday her boyfriend and her stopped by. First she visited with me and the kids and then after my husband came home from work she came back to visit some more. We all had a blast. It was really great to see her and to meet her boyfriend. Of course we both pulled out our digital cameras so we got a lot of great pictures. She’s a really nice kid and we had a really great time. I only wish that she lived closer so that we could see her more than once in 13 years.
