The kids were a little disappointed because last weekend we were unable to go camping due to crappy weather. But the great news is, is that the weather for this weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny so first thing tomorrow morning we will be headed out to the campsite. We will only end up spending one night there this time, but at least we will be able to go for the first time this season. Although it’s still too cold to go swimming, the kids will still be able to play at the park, go to the drive-in movies and have their campfire.
So if you don’t see me around this weekend, now you know why. Have a great weekend guys and I’ll see you all again on Monday morning. I’ll let you know how our first camping trip turned out.

I honestly can’t believe how fast time flies. Last year on this exact date I finished my very last shift at my job where I had been employed for nearly seven years. The main reason (there were minor ones) why I left my job in the first place was because in June I was losing my babysitter. My babysitter was my oldest son and he was planning on moving out after he graduated (which he did). Then with summer fast approaching, I decided that I wouldn’t look really hard for a new sitter at that time.
Not a whole lot has happened during the past year, but I can tell you that my kids are happier, my husband is happier and so am I. This past year I have gotten to do so much with the kids that I would have otherwise missed had I still been employed. I have thought about going back to work but right now I am content with my life at home. I may think a little harder about looking for a job when September rolls around, but…maybe not. So far things are working out great in our home life and I would like to keep it that way for a little while longer.

We just got finished with Mother’s day and now Father’s day is in sight. My husband is a mechanic by trade and his interests lie in the car and mechanics field. But because he is a mechanic, I don’t buy him tools or anything like that for special occasions because he seems to have two of everything. Lately he has been talking about investing in Chrysler 300 accessories. Some of these accessories would make a great gift if he would tell me what he want before he rushes out to buy them. Hopefully I can get some answers out of him and surprise him this Father’s day with stuff that he likes, doesn’t already own and will use. Wish me luck.

Now don’t get me wrong, going camping is probably my most favorite thing to do in life. It gets us all away from the house and gives the kids different opportunities and activities to get involved in. But there is one downfall to camping and that is how stuffy the air can get in our trailer. It’s not too bad during the day because we have all the screens open, but when the trailer is buttoned up for the night it can get a bit stuffy. So this year we have planned to get around this. We are planning on purchasing a couple of air purifiers to combat this problem. Once this *little* problem is taken care of, I can’t see any other issues that we may encounter on our first trip out for the season. But, nothing ever goes as planned so it wouldn’t surprise me if something else does come up.

On Friday my husband celebrated his 10 year anniversary at his job. Wow, I can’t believe that it’s been 10 years already. I can remember the day he went for the interview and how nervous he was. Well since he’s been there for so long, I’m assuming he has gotten over his nervousness. lol
His boss was pretty great to him on Friday. They gave him a beautiful gold diamond studded pin for his 10 years of service. The entire shop took him out to dinner to celebrate this day and his boss gave a very moving speech to him in front of the guys. Although he has had some problems over the years, he does seem to be content so I guess we can probably expect another 10 years to go by. And if it goes as quickly as the last 10 it won’t be anytime at all before he hits the 20 year mark.
Oh…I almost forgot to mention the best part. He now gets four weeks vacation during the summer. So that means an extra week of camping for us!

We woke up to a beautiful day outside today so we have decided that it is a perfect day to take the kids fishing. My husband has a fishing licence, but I don’t have. I just go for the view and the outing. My husband and both kids have their own fishing poles so when they get down to the water, they don’t have to worry about sharing poles. I don’t know how much fish they will catch today as the water is still quit high. But just the experience of going fishing alone is enough excitement for them. I wish they would catch something so we could have some fresh fish for once, but I’m not holding my breath. But you never know. Either way, it will still be an enjoyable day for all.

So my husband has finally taken the plunge and started handing out his resume. Although he is currently employed, he hasn’t been very happy there for a very long time so he has finally decided it’s time to do something about it. The only problem with this line of thought is that he can’t stand change. So for him to make a big move such as this, he must be really unhappy.
With his line of work he needs to get a full check up from the doctor for pretty much any company that he wants to work for. The last time he was going for a different job, I was amazed at how thorough his check up needed to be. His doctor even suggested that he get a colon cleanse to ensure his over all health. But at this point I don’t think it really matter what he has to go through to change jobs, just as long as he does in fact get a different job.

Yesterday I started to go through all my old pictures so I could start scrap-booking again. Although I have three scrapbooks on the go (one for each kid), I decided to start a new one with old pictures of my family. I have included pictures of my dad’s parents as well as my mom’s. I spent a little over two hours just going through the pictures and wondering what life was like back then. If the pictures of my grandmother are any indication, I’m thinking life wasn’t too much fun back then. In most of her pictures she has a very unhappy look on her face and I’m seriously wondering if that’s because she had to wear a corset. I don’t think I’d have a very good look on my face if I had to dress the way they did back then. Thankfully I was born when I was when jeans were a girls best friend. But these pictures do portray my family so they will be included in the final process.

With the school year slowly coming to an end and summer vacation time just around the corner, I have been thinking about different locations where I would love to take the kids for a nice family vacation. One area where I would love to go would be to the Outer Banks. I have seen pictures of this destination on TV and in magazines and I think it would be an ideal location for any family vacation. It looks so peaceful and serene. But I don’t think a vacation like this is in the cards for us this year. But I really do hope that in future years I will be able to look into this type of vacation a little more closely.

Time sure flies when your having fun now doesn’t it?! It seems like just yesterday it was Christmas and then the new year just arrived with my husband and I both needing to update our life insurance policies. This year we decided to change companies so we needed to get a lot of different life insurance rates and determine which company was best for us.
Because summer is almost here, I’m always thinking along the lines of health and life insurance around this time of year. As a family we do more traveling so there is more of a chance of different things happening. And because of this, I always like to have all our policies up to date.
