Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve posted in here. Well I warned you all up front that this may happen.
Early last week I got my very first general transcription contract and yes, it took me six days to complete it. So, I have been spending ALL my free time working on that contract. But since I’m posting in here now, that means that I was finally able to complete it. Right now I don’t have any more contracts lined up (I do have one, but I’m still on the waiting list for them) so I should be posting in here more often.
So, if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to… Well, now you know.

Although E-Bay has been around for a very long time, I have never gone into the site or purchased anything from the site until last week. Last week I was looking to purchase a used transcription foot pedal and someone told me to go check out E-Bay. Well I didn’t find what I was looking for and ended up purchasing one brand new. But while I was on the site, I was quite amazed to see all the items that you can purchase on this site. You know, you can even bid on a preowned Rolex if you want to. I’m sure a lot of people have had a lot of success with this site, but it really didn’t do a whole lot for me. So, I really don’t think I’ll be making any purchases from this site in the near future.

Well I think some of my patience has finally paid off. As you all know, I have been actively searching for ways to earn a little extra income off the Internet. I have discussed (in a previous post) that I have been looking about getting into transcription. And yes, I am still looking at this option, but I have found something else as well.
Yesterday I e-mailed a guy who was looking for an article writer. Well, since I’ve had experience in this field, I decided that if the money was right then maybe I could do this while I’m getting myself set up in the transcription field. Well, I’m happy to report that I got the job and have already gotten my first assignment. As in anything on the Internet, I’ll have to see how it goes. But right now it looks pretty promising.
I’ll be sure to let you all know how I make out with this little venture.

So you have probably noticed that I don’t post in here as much as I used to. Well, there is a reason for this. It’s because I’ve been doing other things lately. I have decided that I want to take my Internet life in a different direction. I have decided that I’m going to try my hand at general transcription. To do this job properly, I have to have two pieces of equipment. One is headphones (which I now have) and the other piece of equipment would be a foot pedal. Well these things cost money so I have been doing a little work over at mechanical turk to try to earn the money for this foot pedal. Although the typing that I have been doing doesn’t add up to much, I figure every cent helps to go toward my purchase of this piece of equipment.
So, if you don’t see me around much over the next couple of months, now you know why. I am working on something else to be able to work at my dream job.

With the Internet so easily accessible these days, many people are looking for on-line opportunities to either supplement their current income or to replace their existing income. You would think that with the wide varieties of opportunities offered off the Internet, that this would be an easily accomplished goal. Well, after a year on the Internet, I can honestly say that this is not so.
If your looking for some typists or data entry position, then you could be out of luck. There are many companies that are offering this type of position for people, but unfortunately most of these companies are scams. If they require you to pay a fee upfront, then they are more than likely a scam.
There are other opportunities that you can get into that are not scams, but they require a lot of patience and a lot of work sometimes for not much income. If you have the time and the patience to invest in these programs, then eventually they will pay out.
There are always two rules I live by when searching for income on the net. They are that if they require you to pay a fee upfront, then they are probably a scam, and always keep in mind, that if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
Good luck on your Internet income search and if anyone here is involved with any sites that are legit I’m sure we’d all love to hear from you!

My daughter is ten now and I have to tell you all that she looks up some pretty strange things on the Internet. Not bad things mind you, just strange things for a ten year old to be curious about. Last night while we were spending a very quiet new year’s eve at home she got on the Internet. At one point I looked over and seen that she was on a site which was discussing Pomegranate trees. I asked her why was she on this particular site and she claimed that she just stumbled upon it and it looked interesting so she started looking at it. What ever happened to kid’s games I wonder?
Well she is back on the computer right now so I think I need to go see what other little treasures she has found.

Honestly if you had of asked me almost two years ago if I thought I would be still be blogging at this time or if I would have thought that I would do almost a thousand posts on just this blog, I would have told you no. In February of 2007 I started this blog as a way to meet and greet different people from all walks of life as well as to make a little extra income working from home. Since that time this blog has taken on a life of it’s own. I have met so many wonderful bloggers and can honestly call them my online friends. Just through this blog alone. Then because I had so much fun with blog I have started others. Although I don’t post as much as I would like to (due to offline activities) the time spent here has been a memorable one.
So…here’s to another 1000 posts at Life’s Like That and here’s to making many many more friends. Do you think I’ll still be posting here in the next couple of years? Yup! You betcha! I’m having so much fun that I couldn’t possibly stop now!

I have to tell you that I couldn’t be any more pleased with myself now that I have switched hosting companies. For a little over a year I had been with Bluehost, but during the past six months I began to experience a lot of trouble with them. Every once in a while my sites (all of them) would go down. When I contacted support to inquire about my problems I was always told the site was down for maintenance. One day my site was down for over nine hours. Well as a paid blogger that relies on having my site up and running each day, this situation was entirely unacceptable.
So I started asking around to see where a reliable host could be found. Someone recommended Hostgator and now all my sites are hosted through them. I don’t really know how good Hostgator is, but I guess time will tell. And after hearing about other people’s ongoing problems with Bluehost, I am more than thankful I switched when I did. This site is still having problems and if my sites were still hosted with them, I could have been affected as well. A little down time is very normal, but when it starts to interfere with my day to day activities then I know it’s time for a change.

I have to tell you all that enrolling in Entrecard was probably one of the best moves that I could have made for this blog. I have received so much traffic from this program that I am still extremely pleased to be a member. So at this time I would like to take this opportunity to thank my top droppers for the month of September. I really do appreciate all your visits and I look forward to seeing you all again in here in the coming months.
