Very upset little girl

Yesterday we got hit with a major snowstorm. So I thought that school would probably be cancelled today but it wasn’t. They did delay the buses for one hour so the work crews could do their thing with the sand and the salt. So I sent the kids out the door an hour later than they normally go and thought ok, I am ready for the day. Well you can imagine my surprise when 20 minutes later both kids showed back up at the door. They had missed the bus. My son was really okay with this, but man my daughter was mad. She loves school and hates to miss even one day. She’s calmer now, but man when she came back home she was in a temper. Oh well, these things happen. After all it is winter.

Well…. it’s Tuesday

Well it’s Tuesday so that means in my house that my youngest son either stays home from school claiming to be sick or calls home from school claiming to be sick. Well, guess what?? I got the phone call. So in the middle of me writing up posts on cell boosters, my son calls from school needing to be picked up because he is *sick*. I really don’t know if he is but since the teacher told him to call me I had no choice but to go and pick him up. I really wish I could believe that he isn’t feeling well, but since it’s Tuesday and there’s nothing fun going on at school I have a hard time believing this. But he’s home now so there’s really nothing I can do about it.

Report cards came home

Earlier this week both my kids brought home their first report cards of the school season. And… I’ve got to tell you all that they both did amazing! My daughter who is in grade 8 got six A’s and one A+! And my son who is in grade 6 (who’s not real keen on school) came home with 5 B’s and 2 A’s. So I’ve got to say that those are pretty great marks. Hopefully this trend continues and they continue to do great in their studies. All I can tell you is that I’m extremely impressed and proud with both of them!

A new babysitter

After four years of taking the children to work with me every shift, last night for the first time ever I was able to leave them home. We finally allowed our daughter to babysit her brother. She has been able to (by law) watch him for about a year now but we’ve been putting it off because of their constant fighting. But over the past week or so we’ve left them home for tiny spurts and things seemed to have worked out. So last night I left them in the house and went to work. They did awesome! There was no fighting and they didn’t get into anything. So I guess now I have a babysitter and my husband and I may be able to get out more just the two of us.

Making the best out of a bad situation

Well this morning I started driving my kids down to the bus stop and sitting there with them until their bus arrived. The reason for this??? Both the kids are getting bullied at the bus stop and I’m getting sick of this! I really, really wish we could move and get out of here. But short of winning the lottery I really can’t see that happening. Oh I would need anything fancy like having a home theatre system in the home, just out of here. But until then I’ll have to drive my 11 and 13 year old to the bus stop just to keep them safe.

More worries

Well for the past four months I have not had to worry about my oldest son. He was living up where my brother lives and was staying with my niece so I really wasn’t worried about him. But except for the last four months I have been in a constant state of worry over him for the past four years. He got into a bit of trouble four years ago and took off. Well it has happened once again, and once again he is on the run. I have no idea where he’s at or what he’s doing. There’s nothing I can do at this point as he has once again lost all contact. So I get to sit and worry once again. I hope he’s okay and soon gets in touch with me to let me know what he’s up to and how he is. Until then, I just sit and wait.

It’s going to be an expensive weekend

I’m thinking before the weekend hits I may have to check out some checkcity.com payday loans. I have to finish up the kids school shopping and since I’m not even half way done I think it’s going to cost me a pile of money. Yes, I’m very excited that these two will be finally out of my hair and back in school. But I really do wish that it wouldn’t cost quite sop much money to send them back to school. When I hear people talk about our *free* school system, I really do have to laugh. Oh well, it’s got to be done so I guess I should just concentrate on the fact that soon I will have my house back and not the fact that soon I won’t have any money.

Time is marching on

Holy smokes! It’s September first already! Although this past summer was pretty crappy weather wise, it has seemed to fly by pretty quickly. In less than a week I have two kids that will be back in school. So these next few days are going to be quite busy for me. I still have quite a bit of shopping to finish up on and then will have to spend the time labeling all the kids things. But this little rush is normal and all it means to me is that summer is almost over and soon I will have my nice quiet house back to myself.

End of school ceremonies

Well I really need to find our sony cameras and make sure they are charged for tomorrow. Tomorrow morning at 10:00 am I have to be at my daughter’s school to watch her receive and award. And then I have to make sure I’m at my son’s school for 11:00 am to watch him graduate from grade 5. I really have no clue how I’m going to attend both events, but I’m going to do my very best to do so. I am so proud of these two kids this year that I just have to be able to attend both.
