Lifes Like That

I’m so slack!

4th July 2008

I’m so slack!

Last month I cleaned out my gym room and set up all my equipment. But that’s all I have done with it. I know I really should get on my treadmill and get some use out of it. But honestly, I’m just too lazy. I would rather do crafts, play on my computer or play outside with the kids. In all honesty, I would rather do anything. I just hate working out. But because some of the equipment in my room is a little expensive I really must start using it. I’m planning on getting started back into my exercise routine next week when the kids go back to art camp. Maybe if I have a little “me” time, I’ll do what I should be doing. Then again, knowing me as well as I do. Maybe not.

Living the good life

Last May I had to quit my job due to babysitter issues and haven’t been employed since.  For the most part I was really pleased with this decision.  I enjoy being home with the two younger kids and I know they enjoy having me home as well.   But sometimes I do miss the routines of working and I certainly do miss the paycheck.  But when summer hits, such as it has right now, I’m quite happy that I don’t have to work any longer.  When the sun is shining and I’m spending an afternoon outside with the kids, it’s nice not to have to worry about getting ready for work.  And when the weekend hits, it’s nice to be able to just pick up and go whenever and wherever we want without worrying about being home on time.  So you can say, that at least for now, I’m living the good life and enjoying it immensely.

Cars are expensive

Not only is purchasing a vehicle expensive, but so is the insurance, licensing and up keep. It’s amazing how much money you can spend in a run of year on a vehicle. Because of the high prices of gas and parts, I am always on the lookout for sites where I can buy good quality products are good prices. Well I have found a site over at radiators.com where a person can purchase a good quality Ford Radiator at a very reasonable price.

This company has been in business for well over 20 years, so you know they must be doing something right. All their products come with a life time guarantee and a very reasonable price tag. They are the industry leader’s in their field and their customer service is absolutely the best. They have such a wide variety of products to choose from that you are pretty much guaranteed to find the product you need. With rising prices on car parts, this is definitely a company that I’m going to be visiting in the future.

Possible new career

I have held a lot of different jobs over the years with my last one being a waitress for almost seven years. And although I enjoyed the work immensely, I don’t have any plans in returning to that field when I go to look for another job. I am always up for a challenge and really enjoy learning new things, so I think my next career move will go into a different direction. Lately I have been thinking that I may like to become an IT professional. Over the past few years this industry has experience an amazing amount of growth as far as job prospects. To become involved in this field, I would not only be able to make the type of money that I really desire, but I would also get to be very involved in a fast and ever changing environment.

One of the first steps that I have taken in this area is to check out exactly what would be required of me to get a Cisco certification for this industry. By checking out this site, I have come to determine that Cisco is the best arena for me to pursue in my certification. I would start out learning all about entry level positions and when I was ready I could then move onto the more advanced positions. Because of their detailed lessons in the IT industry I would always have the chance for career growth if this was something that I wanted.

They say your never to old to learn new things, and with the help of The Cisco Learning Network, I’m more than positive I could achieve all my dreams and goals that I have set for myself. On their site I have read some amazing testimonials from people regarding the courses and their experiences with it. As I have never taken any formal training in this type of industry, I know the work could be difficult for me. But I am always up for a challenge and I love to experience new experiences. So I plan to look into this a little more carefully and hopefully by the time I’m ready to embark on my new career, I will have the necessary knowledge and skills to make this career a huge success.

Weather doesn’t look good for camping

With the weekend fast approaching, my thoughts are once again geared towards the campsite.  But I honestly don’t think it’s going to happen this weekend.  My husband has to work Saturday morning.  Which means that we couldn’t leave until after dinner.  And the weatherman is calling for rain on Saturday and Sunday.  Camping in the rain is not my idea of a fun time.   So I may just have to find something else to do this weekend with the kids.  But those things happen and you got to roll with the punches.  Having said that, I am still hoping that the weatherman is pulling a funny one and the sun will come out beaming.  If this does happen, then we will definitely pack up and head out as soon as my husband gets home from work.

I’ll let you all know how this goes.

It’s about time!

Having two small children at home who have no clue as to what time is suitable to get out of bed in the mornings can be quite exhausting for a parent. Trust me. I know. My two kids are usually up before 6:00 am every morning (even on weekends) thinking it’s time to get up for their day. I really need to purchase them each a Teach Me Time Clock to get all our sleep patterns back on track. This clock is really cool. Not only will it teach young children how to tell time, but some of the other features it has is a must need in any household with children who don’t want to stay in bed.

This clock is a talking clock and will also turn green when it’s time for the children to get up. Although I never had the opportunity to purchase something like this when my oldest son was younger, I do have the opportunity now and I can’t think of any better way for me (and the children) to get our much needed extra sleep every morning.

Applied for our first mortgage

So after a couple of months of searching and doing a lot of research on different mortgage lenders, we were finally able to agree on one that we both liked and trusted and applied to have our very first mortgage. We wanted to be pre-approved before we made any decisions on whether to buy a house in our current neighborhood or whether to purchase our father in laws house. Once we get the approval (finger’s crossed) we will then make our final decision on which way to proceed. This is such an exciting time in our lives, but it’s so scary as well. Right now the trailer we live in is bought and paid for so having a mortgage hanging over our heads is a little scary. But if it means I get a house, then I guess I’m willing to pay the price.

World’s worst backseat driver

And…this award goes to my husband. I have to say that in past years I have had a few people try to teach me how to drive. But out of all of them, my husband has to be the very worst student driver teacher I have ever come across. Even though I now do have my licence and have had them for about five years, he is still the worst passenger I can have in my car. He’s so bad that I absolutely refuse to drive with him at all. If we go anywhere (even in my car) I hand the keys over to him. I have tried to drive with him in the passenger seat and I swear to god that by the time we reach our destination I feel like heading back down the road to divorce court. So for the sake and sanctity of our marriage, when we go anywhere as I family I keep my butt firmly planted in the passenger seat.

Here I am

About a month ago someone here left me a comment about posting a picture of me. Well…I finally got brave enough and here I am. No..really this is me. The ball cap and all. If you knew me personally, which a couple of you do, then you would know that I am never without my ball cap. I am not a girly girl and I like to be comfortable. So…this is me in all my finery. Enjoy the picture as it will probably be NEVER when you see another one. lol

Gorgeous day today

It was so gorgeous, sunny and warm today that I did something that I haven’t done in a very long time. I took out my trusty laptop and sat outside while the kids were playing. Not only did this give them the much needed fresh air that they need but I was also able to get a lot of work done as well. I can see that this summer I will be doing a lot of this. We live in a trailer and when it’s hot like it was today the trailer is just to hot to stay inside of. So with my laptop I will be able to enjoy all the fresh air I want and get all the work done that I need to.
