A great find

Many of you may not know this, but I am a pretty avid reader. I will pretty much read anything, but of course have my favorite authors. My absolute favorite author is Beatrice Small with Fern Michaels and Jude Deveraux falling into a close second. Yesterday while I was at the dollar store purchasing my husband a father’s day card and seen that they had some used books for sale. So I took a little bit of time and looked through them. Well I was seriously pleased to find three books from Fern Michaels that I had never read before. So at three dollars a book, of course I grabbed them. So now I have some great books to sink my teeth into and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg to buy them.

Series coming to an end

If anyone of you has teenage children, then you are going to know exactly what I’m talking about. The series that is just about coming to an end is the Harry Potter series. This series has been a smashing success. With the end of this series there will be seven books in total plus they had also made some movies. I have to wonder if the author of this series realized that once she wrote the first book that it would be a smashing success. I know the last book that came out, was sold out before it ever hit the stores and this final book is already anticipated to do the same.

There are not many books or series of books on the market that has taken the reading community such as this has. And with the final book set to hit the stores, you can imagine the supspense all Harry Potter fans are feeling. So, for that teenager in your life who just can’t get enough of Harry Potter, why not drop in and purchase your copy before they are all gone. If your not a Harry Potter fan yourself, after visting this site you will be one and I’m sure you’ll want to purchase the complete seven book series for yourself.

I hit the motherload!

Today my friend and I went out for a drive while the kids were in school.  As today was the last full day of school this was our last opportunity to get together without children for a while.  So, we decided to go into our local dollar store just to browse around.  Well, you can imagine my delight when as soon as we walked in I seen a shelf fully loaded with previously viewed books at $2.00 a book.  I was just like a kid in a candy store.  I purchased four books, but had a really hard time deciding between all them to decide what to purchase first.  When one of the clerks seen my selections, she commented that they were just trying this out and if they get a good response, they will continue to sell these books at these low prices.  So, I informed her that they have a least one customer who will purchase all her books there.  So, keep your fingers crossed for me that they will continue to sell these books in the future and I can save a pile of money on my reading habits.

Surprisingly good read

One of my favorite pass times is to sit down and read a good book.  The books that I most enjoy are historical romance and my favorite author of all times has to be Beatrice Small.  But, sometimes my husband will bring me home a book that isn’t a historical romance and I will attempt to read it.  A couple of weeks ago, he brought me home a book called “Gone” by Jonathan Kellerman and I really must say that this is probably the best book I’ve read in a very long time.  No, it’s not a historical romance, it is a murder detective story.  So, needless to say I was pleasantly surprised that I am enjoying this novel so much.  So, it goes to show you that if you open up your mind to try new stuff, you also could be surprised.  So now when I go searching in the stores for another book to read, I will definitely be looking for another Jonathan Kellerman book.

New books

As I am an avid reader I always get quite excited when I find that people have books to give away for free.  A friend of mine just informed me that she had just been giving a cardboard box full of books from another friend.  And, since she doesn’t read she thought of me.  I can’t wait to see what kind of treasures are in the box.  I generally only read historical romance novels, but when my supply of books is running low, I will read almost anything.  So, it really makes no difference to me what type of books are inside the box, as I’m sure I will eventually read them all.  So, I’m thinking that today is almost like christmas and I can’t wait to open my “present”.

Expanding my reading pleasure

Reading books is one of my favorite pass times.  I usually enjoy reading historical romance books and like any other avid reader, I have my favorite authors.  But, sometimes my husband will pick me up a book while he’s getting groceries and it’s not always one from my favorite authors.  Last night he came home with a book from the store that is actually a detective kind of book.  So, I started reading it just to see if I could get into it.  It’s not usually the type of book that I would read.  I was pleasantly surprised that I was really getting into it.  So, if your like me and are a little weary of trying to read new kinds of books, give it a shot, you may be pleasantly surprised.  I was!
