Very upset little girl

Yesterday we got hit with a major snowstorm. So I thought that school would probably be cancelled today but it wasn’t. They did delay the buses for one hour so the work crews could do their thing with the sand and the salt. So I sent the kids out the door an hour later than they normally go and thought ok, I am ready for the day. Well you can imagine my surprise when 20 minutes later both kids showed back up at the door. They had missed the bus. My son was really okay with this, but man my daughter was mad. She loves school and hates to miss even one day. She’s calmer now, but man when she came back home she was in a temper. Oh well, these things happen. After all it is winter.

Report cards came home

Earlier this week both my kids brought home their first report cards of the school season. And… I’ve got to tell you all that they both did amazing! My daughter who is in grade 8 got six A’s and one A+! And my son who is in grade 6 (who’s not real keen on school) came home with 5 B’s and 2 A’s. So I’ve got to say that those are pretty great marks. Hopefully this trend continues and they continue to do great in their studies. All I can tell you is that I’m extremely impressed and proud with both of them!

It’s going to be an expensive weekend

I’m thinking before the weekend hits I may have to check out some checkcity.com payday loans. I have to finish up the kids school shopping and since I’m not even half way done I think it’s going to cost me a pile of money. Yes, I’m very excited that these two will be finally out of my hair and back in school. But I really do wish that it wouldn’t cost quite sop much money to send them back to school. When I hear people talk about our *free* school system, I really do have to laugh. Oh well, it’s got to be done so I guess I should just concentrate on the fact that soon I will have my house back and not the fact that soon I won’t have any money.

Time is marching on

Holy smokes! It’s September first already! Although this past summer was pretty crappy weather wise, it has seemed to fly by pretty quickly. In less than a week I have two kids that will be back in school. So these next few days are going to be quite busy for me. I still have quite a bit of shopping to finish up on and then will have to spend the time labeling all the kids things. But this little rush is normal and all it means to me is that summer is almost over and soon I will have my nice quiet house back to myself.

End of school ceremonies

Well I really need to find our sony cameras and make sure they are charged for tomorrow. Tomorrow morning at 10:00 am I have to be at my daughter’s school to watch her receive and award. And then I have to make sure I’m at my son’s school for 11:00 am to watch him graduate from grade 5. I really have no clue how I’m going to attend both events, but I’m going to do my very best to do so. I am so proud of these two kids this year that I just have to be able to attend both.

Final days of school

Well we are down to the wire. The kids are on their final days of school. They both did extremely well this year and although I do not have their report cards this year, I know they both have passed their grades. So it looks like I’ll have to invest in some grading presents again this year. I absolutely don’t mind this as this means that since I have to buy gifts, the kids did well. At least I don’t have to worry about shopping at the Happy Easter store this time of year. They have both asked for video games so since they both did so well they will get their wishes. I am one proud momma!

Time marches on

I can’t believe that there is only five weeks of school left for the children! Where does the time go?? In five weeks my youngest son will actually be leaving elementary school. That means he’s becoming a big boy! He’s quite excited about going up to middle school next year, but has admitted that he is going to miss the elementary school playground. But he’s getting older and time certainly is marching on. So in about five weeks I will be attending his graduation and then after the summer is over my little man will be headed to a bigger school.

Yay (sort of) it’s Friday

Now normally I get pretty excited when Friday finally arrives. Well I’m not quite as excited on this particular Friday. And the reason why I’m not really excited?? Because this is also the day that marks the day that the kids start their March break. That’s right folks, I’m going to have these two kids home for the next nine days. That’s why I’m not really jumping up and down that the weekend is finally here. It’s going to be a long week and I really am not looking forward to it. The kids are, so I guess that’s a good thing. I guess I’ll just have to wait it out and prepare myself for all the fighting that I know is going to take place. But maybe they’ll surprise me and have a great March break. I can always hope now can’t I??

Late start to the day

I absolutely hate it when my schedule gets messed up. Well that’s what happened to me today. Because of the storm that we received yesterday and the conditions of the road, the kids buses were delayed one hour this morning. That meant I had both of them home for an extra hour this morning. It may not seem like much, but even this hour still managed to mess up my day. Now I’m trying to get back in the groove of things. I have to find a cheap auto insurance quote, clean up the house again and find time to get some groceries. Oh well, it could have been worse, it could have been once again another snow day.

School is getting on my nerves

My youngest son is in grade 5 and has decided that he is one of the *cool older boys*. Well to go along with his coolness, he has decided that he doesn’t want to wear snow pants this year. Most of the kids in his class don’t wear them, so I wasn’t going to make him. Well yesterday one of the teachers at the school informed him that if he doesn’t have any snow pants he will have to stay in at recess and noon hour until he has them. Who does this teacher think she is?? I’m the parent so shouldn’t it be up to me if he wears them or not?? What next, monitors in the schools so they can track his every move?? I’ve got to tell you all that I’m not impressed with this situation and I will be contacting the school over it.
