New Year’s resolution

Well since the end of the year is looming ahead of us, this year I have made a New Year’s resolution. I have vowed to try to save money anyway I can and earn extra money so I can have a down payment on a house within the next year or two. I have already been checking out sites like Wholesaleinsurance.net to see if I can save some money on insurance and I have been sending out my resume to companies online to see if I can pick up some extra freelance work. Hopefully this is a good start in my goal to save up some cash this year. I will continue to think of other areas where I can save money as well and hopefully soon I can post that I have saved up enough money to put a down payment on a house.

Finishing up the shopping

Last night I was online searching the Internet for some great gift ideas for my friends for the holidays. It’s too bad I don’t know any nurses as I did find some amazing deals on discount scrubs but none of my friends are in need of that type of gift. I was able to find some pretty neat ideas though. So… since I’m kind of running out of time I’m going to spend a little time today ordering these gifts. I just hope they make it to my house within the next 10 days. I’ve got to tell you all that I do enjoy Christmas but this year I’ll be pretty happy when it’s finally over.l

Christmas staff party

For the first time in over six years my husband and I will be attending his company staff party. The reason why we haven’t gone in six years is because up until this year we haven’t had a babysitter for our two kids. But this year we are planning on going because our daughter is now at the age where she is able to watch her brother for a little bit at a time. So later on tonight we will be headed out for the first time in six years without the children. I am actually really looking forward to our first adult meal without children. We aren’t going very far so we won’t be gone very long. But we will still get to go out and enjoy a little adult time.

Less than three weeks to go

Wow less than three weeks to go until Christmas. I have been pretty busy shopping and wrapping and am almost done but I still do have to buy my oldest son a big present to go with the rest of his stuff. He is really into music so I have been looking at some acoustic guitars as a gift for him. Currently he doesn’t know how to play guitar but I think if I gave him one he would gladly learn how to play. Years ago he used to pick up mine every once and a while and did show some interest. And since I have no clue what to purchase a 22 year old that doesn’t live home, I think this would make a great gift. He certainly wouldn’t be expecting it!

Update on job decision

So as you’ve all read in my previous post, I was doing some serious deliberations on whether or not to continue at my current job or to look for a new one. Well after discussing the situation with my husband last night, I have made the decision to leave. I have 11 years in the restaurant field but I honestly think that at this point in my life it’s really time to move on. I have decided to go to a grocery store where they use barcode scanners as I do have experience in that area and I really want to continue to work with the public. So now that the decision has been made, I have quite a load taken off my shoulders. Now I’ll just wait until January when the kids go back to school and start applying for a position in a grocery store in my area.

Well…. it’s Tuesday

Well it’s Tuesday so that means in my house that my youngest son either stays home from school claiming to be sick or calls home from school claiming to be sick. Well, guess what?? I got the phone call. So in the middle of me writing up posts on cell boosters, my son calls from school needing to be picked up because he is *sick*. I really don’t know if he is but since the teacher told him to call me I had no choice but to go and pick him up. I really wish I could believe that he isn’t feeling well, but since it’s Tuesday and there’s nothing fun going on at school I have a hard time believing this. But he’s home now so there’s really nothing I can do about it.

Still hanging in there

Well I’m still hanging in there with my job. Right now I hate my job and want to look for something else so bad. But it’s really not a good time right now to do that. I really don’t want to go somewhere new and have to start training in the middle of the Christmas shopping season and I really don’t want to lose the extra tips that usually come my way this time of year. So I’m trying to stick out this job until at least the new year. In the new year I’ll have to make some hard decisions. And who knows, maybe my new year’s resolution this year will be to find a new job. I’ll keep you posted!

Santa Clause is coming to town

Tomorrow night is the annual Santa Clause parade in the city near where we live. So instead of doing research on air ambulance services we will be taking the kids to the Santa Clause parade. I honestly thought my kids were getting a little old for this, but both of them asked their father if he would take them. So I guess your never to old to enjoy a good Santa Clause parade. Next weekend is the parade in our town and they have already made plans to go to that one as well. I don’t think that either one of them still believe in Santa Clause, but it’s still kind of cute that they want to go to the parades. So keep your fingers crossed that for the next couple of weekends the weather is nice and we can all enjoy these parades as a family.

Report cards came home

Earlier this week both my kids brought home their first report cards of the school season. And… I’ve got to tell you all that they both did amazing! My daughter who is in grade 8 got six A’s and one A+! And my son who is in grade 6 (who’s not real keen on school) came home with 5 B’s and 2 A’s. So I’ve got to say that those are pretty great marks. Hopefully this trend continues and they continue to do great in their studies. All I can tell you is that I’m extremely impressed and proud with both of them!
