Lifes Like That

Earlier this week both my kids brought home their first report cards of the school season. And… I’ve got to tell you all that they both did amazing! My daughter who is in grade 8 got six A’s and one A+! And my son who is in grade 6 (who’s not real keen on school) came home with 5 B’s and 2 A’s. So I’ve got to say that those are pretty great marks. Hopefully this trend continues and they continue to do great in their studies. All I can tell you is that I’m extremely impressed and proud with both of them!

So things at work have started to pick up which is really good. But a situation has come up that has me really, really considering looking for another job. If I do leave, I don’t think I’ll go back into the restaurant industry but at this point I really don’t know what to do. All I know is that I can’t continue to go on at work as I have been these last couple of weeks. I have the weekend off so I think I’ll look for some more online work like doing articles on costume express coupons and things like that so if I do end up leaving in a hurry I’ll have something to fall back on. I really don’t want to leave, but I can’t see this situation improving any time soon. So wish me luck and I’ll certainly let you all know what my final decision ends up being.

After four years of taking the children to work with me every shift, last night for the first time ever I was able to leave them home. We finally allowed our daughter to babysit her brother. She has been able to (by law) watch him for about a year now but we’ve been putting it off because of their constant fighting. But over the past week or so we’ve left them home for tiny spurts and things seemed to have worked out. So last night I left them in the house and went to work. They did awesome! There was no fighting and they didn’t get into anything. So I guess now I have a babysitter and my husband and I may be able to get out more just the two of us.

Yes I realize that we are now in a recession and things are bad all across the board, but I have got to tell you all that this is the absolute slowest I’ve ever seen business at my job. It’s times like that that I wish I was trained in Computer Programmer Jobs that way I would have something to fall back on if business doesn’t pick up at work. I’m really hoping that with the holiday season fast approaching, things at work improve greatly. Otherwise, I’m almost certain I will be looking for different employment come the first of the year.

These past few days have not been a very fun time for me. I have been exhausted, don’t want to eat and have had major headaches. I don’t know what is going on with my system these days but whatever it is I really wish it would stop! So… due to illness I’m going to shut the computer down and sign off for the night. I’ll be back on again when I feel better and can think straight.

I have a lot of stuff lying around here that I haven’t used in years so I’m thinking of going through my clutter to see if I can generate some extra cash. I have an old guitar that hasn’t seen a guitar tuner in years, have some old coins and have a lot of craft items I can sell. If I manage to sell all this stuff not only will I be able to make some extra cash, but I will also be freeing up some space in my home as well. Hopefully once I find this space, my husband doesn’t go out and purchase more items to fill up the house once again.

I am so proud of myself! For the first time in years I’ve got a great chunk of my Christmas shopping done and let me tell you folks this was no easy task. My daughter turned 13 this year and trying to find her gifts for her age is almost impossible. She is in the in-between stage of gift giving so finding presents for her is a little daunting. But I was able to find some perfect stationery (so she can write to her friends and brother) at invitationbox.com personalized stationery and I honestly think she is going to love it. I really hope I can keep this up and have all my shopping done early for once in my life!

Here in Canada we have a long weekend fast approaching. This upcoming weekend is our Thanksgiving weekend. I do have to work on Sunday but other than that my weekend is pretty clear. Both the kids and my husband have the entire weekend off so I think we might be able to something fun this weekend. We have been invited to my father in law’s for supper on Monday and everyone if really looking forward to that. So over the next couple of days I’m going to try to get all my work done so this weekend the only thing that I will have to worry about is getting full from a great Thanksgiving meal!

Yes I know, it’s only September. But Christmas is coming and for once I want to be prepared. I have already been looking at items for my husband and the children and have come up with some pretty great ideas for them all. Now all I have to do is come up with the money and I’ll be all set. My husband is a little more difficult to buy for then the kids as normally if he wants something he’ll just go out and purchase it himself, but the other day I did see him looking at a canon projector and I don’t think this is something he would go out and buy himself. So yes, I am getting good ideas for presents, now I’ll just have to bite the bullet and spend the money.
